Hi Editors,

Hello! Thanks for reaching out about this area. We work closely with our local Partners at Syracuse University and the PD to best configure the Waze map for both normal and event traffic. The set up with Private Road segments is mostly correct, it will allow proper routing, but there were some unauthorized changes which caused some improper routing.
We are planning to review this area with the University before the end of the week to ensure routing is correct at all times. For example, we don’t have the exact times the gate arm at Skytop closes, so we will configure that as well.
Are the roads marked private intended to route traffic to approach from the south? Seems like it’s configured for event traffic but broken for regular traffic.
We’re still getting the final configurations from the University, but the idea of the private road segments at the entry points is to deter “cut-through” routing. If your destination is not within this bubble, you won’t be routed through it. This is their goal at all times.
During events, it is their intention that everyone approach the Skytop lot from the South. With the current setup, all Skytop traffic must approach from the South, which this configuration also accounts for. Thus, all routing should be working as expected.
However, echoing my earlier reply, we are missing the hours of operation of that southern gate arm. During weekends and late night, we need to be routing non-residents via the north entrance. Once we add these timing restrictions, everything will be correct 100%.
