I have recently starting using Wazer and updating Karachi maps in the online editor. I would like to pool efforts from Karachi based wazers in updating maps for Karachi city. Kindly use this post to host discussions related to mapping Karachi.

you’re welcome, I noticed that you started to map the city of Karachi and you’re very good at drawing the streets. Congratulations, by the end of year we can together to map the entire capital; kindly help me to correct the name of the streets and draw the landmark of the most popular sites.

Sure I will try to assist you as much as possible to map not only Islamabad but other cities as well. Right now, I am concentrating on my home city of Karachi and eagerly awaiting map updates to become available on the mobile client.
I’ve also posted on my group wall in Waze for Karachi users to visit forum and help out in mapping. If we are able to get some more contributors, I was thinking about trying to arrange some kind of mapping marathon during a weekend/holiday.
Noticed you are from Italy! I’ve been to Rome & Vatican once around late 90’s. Wonderful places to visit in one’s lifetime.

I am Italian and I know very well your country, I am a soldier, a Navy Officer, I have been for 5 years in the NATO mission in Pakistan and Afghanistan, so I know very well the cities of Karachi, Faisalabad, Lahore, Multan, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Quetta and Peshawar. For this reason I started to map this wonderful country.
I see that you are very good at drawing the streets, you learn quickly, as I wrote earlier kindly help me to write the exact name of the streets particularly the main streets.
For any information are always at your disposal.

Glad you liked Pakistan…we rarely hear that from foreign nationals.
I’m following your lead and updating main streets in Karachi as my editable area increases. For helping out in mapping other cities, I believe my access needs to be upgraded to be able to have countrywide editing capability without having driven there with Waze app running on my mobile.
For now, I would like to wait till my edits for Karachi are populated on Live Map (and onwards to my mobile app) so that I can test out the navigation / routing. I think some fine tuning edits would be required to be able to have Waze correctly route and reads out navigation prompts.
Once I have gone through this step and am comfortable about my understanding of Waze, I would request access upgrade and help you out with other major cities.

I’m glad that you write to me, please do not hesitate to do so whenever you have doubts of any kind.
Do not be hasty, there is still much to do in your city, it will take months before it has been mapped completely and perfectly.
You must know that every 15-30 days is updating the maps on our waze navigator, so you can see for yourself the use and reliability of this new navigator, because unlike many others on the market is free and is built by us users, if we all work with precision in mapping the territory, the more accurate the reliability of our navigation.

The Minor highway near the top of the screen is locked by you (ID: 177195244 & 176866006).
Please name the Minor Highway " Jahangir Sethna Road " and also connect it to the road segment next to it.

See if you can unlock the minor highway here as well (ID: 165699266 & ID: 165699475). These are locked by someone else (User ID 13461656). I can’t connect ramps to it due to being locked.

I saw that you are editing many roads, I kindly ask you to show me a permalink roads that are traveled more frequently by the citizens of the capital, because this way can we ensure them a better service to use waze.

By capital you mean Islamabad? Or were you referring to Karachi?
I’m still editing areas open to me for editing…a lot of Karachi still left to be mapped.

You’re right, I meant the chief town of the province of Sindh Karachi.
We saw that west area of the city there is still much to be mapped.
With a lot of patience we can map it all.

Thanks. I love the Bowtie intersection construct. It’s perfect for the traffic flow we have here.

Edit: Here is a google spreadsheet that I have started using to log my edits. You can refer to this and PM me your email to that I can give you editing rights. This way, you can enter the permalink in the sheet and I will update you on the road/street names there.
