Mapping the East Rand

Hi I recently became a Wazer and are loving it! I am buzy mapping and fixing the east rand and are looking for other user in the area.

Hi Gussie,

I’ve been the area manager for quite a big section of the East Rand for a couple of months now, but I’ve only recently(as in the past month, so the changes aren’t live yet) started fixing the place up.

I’ve mapped(West to East) from Witfield(Boksburg) to Atlas Road and (North to South) from the N12 to Cason Road.

There is still plenty to do even in the area mentioned above.

Which areas are you thinking of editing?

Hi I have started in Brakpan North and Central as I am staying in that area. And also fixed the N17 all the way up to Secunda as I work there. I realy enjoy it so do a little every night if I have time. Just frustrating to wait for the updates to syncornize wiht the phones…

Ja, I think the uptake has been huge so they’re struggling to keep up.

From the sound of it they are working hard to improve these processes.

I need some help with the clasifications of the streets and highways, also could you tell me what the levels on the streets is all about?

I usually use streets and primary streets in town areas. The highway roads are for R, M and N roads as far as I know.

Levels are how the road is stacked. If one road bridges another one, the bottom road is level 0 and the top one level 1. Leave it on 0 unless there is a bridge of some sort.

Another thing, please resist the urge to split a road into 2 parallel one ways. According to the road editing wiki for south Africa, a road has to have an island of at least 5meters before we should split it.

Hi thanks for that, I normaly only split the road when it is a Freeway or a major high way. I see I have used the ramps for some of the minor an dmajor high way slipways and wil have to go and fix that. What should one then use to indicate these slipways?
