App Improvements!

Hello Waze team,

I have been using the app daily for years and I love it, but as a regular driver, I find myself missing key visual features that force me to check other apps. I propose these improvements focused on the navigation screen (with the option to toggle them on or off in settings to avoid cluttering the display):

  1. Fixed perimeter lines for LEZs (or a community alternative): We need to see the “border” of Low Emission Zones (like Distrito Centro in Madrid) drawn on the map before we arrive to avoid accidental fines. If mapping this officially is complex due to regulations with the Spanish government, you could allow us to connect several user-created “favorite points” with a line or colored marker so that we can visually define our own warning zones on the map.

  2. Fixed Smart Parking layer on route: I need to see available parking lots around me at all times. If I am on a route, hit traffic, and figure it makes more sense to leave the car in a nearby parking lot and walk to save time, I need to see those parking lots already drawn on the map without having to search for them while driving.

  3. Fixed Gas Station layer on screen: Searching for a gas station while driving is awkward and dangerous. It would be excellent to be able to enable a layer so that gas stations appear directly on the navigation screen while driving, without the need for manual searches or stopping the vehicle. There is enough space on current screens to display these points.

  4. “Route / Sightseeing Mode” for long trips: An option in the settings for when we take long trips (such as traveling between Madrid and Barcelona). When enabled, the app could show messages or floating pins on the map with wonderful points of interest or tourist spots near the road to discover new places while traveling.

My goal is to help make Waze the ultimate app so we don’t have to rely on any other. Thank you for your time.

Best regards, Cris Hernandez.

Hi Cris,

First of all, welcome to the community

All the suggestions you’ve proposed are certainly interesting and, in fact, one of the most important parts of Waze is user suggestions, as they are the ones who ultimately use the app.

To that end, to collect user suggestions, Waze created the suggestion box.

The advantages of the suggestion box are that it’s directly monitored by Waze staff and we can all join forces. Suggestions are voted on, and if many users vote for a suggestion, there’s a better chance it will be considered.

We encourage you to make use of this tool that Waze offers us to express ourselves (regardless of whether they might read your post here).

Again, thanks and welcome to the forum :folded_hands:

Here is what Waze itself says:

Use the suggestion box

We’re always trying to improve Waze and, for that, user feedback is fundamental.

Do you have a great idea for a useful new feature or want to give us your feedback on one of the features we offer? Use the Waze suggestion box.
