In case you haven’t noticed the announcement here, there is a new Maryland wiki page in need of editing. Please volunteer to make changes and add your Area Manager info at the bottom.

Great. Thanks. I’ll put in my two cents. I don’t see much reason to have sections that don’t have any Maryland information like “Landmarks,” “Alleys,” or “Non-Driveable Roads.”

Alleys are different here on the east coast. I’d keep that part, since what we do is not applicable in the rest of the USA.

There is no national Landmark standard yet, so I’d keep the blurb about CT as well.

I like the way I wrote about non-driveable roads better than what is in the Wiki :slight_smile: But you are right over all, this page should be about what is different than the USA standards.

Does anybody know what happened to the MD wiki page? It appears that most of the information is gone and it’s reverted back to a very old version of the page.

Is there any issue going back to the February 4th version and then removing the references to Oct 2013 Gov’t Shutdown and updating the editor list?

Thanks for making the change! I didn’t mean to call anyone out here so I apologize if I made it seem that way. I’m still learning my way around editing the wiki. I’m going to go through it over the next few days since some of the things I wrote are too wordy or outdated, and I’ve been sitting on a few sections that I never got around to putting in.

Couple items:

  • I have created a “Neighboring States” section in the DC Wiki which links to this wiki as well as Virginia’s. If there are no objections, I can add it in the MD Wiki (with the appropriate neighboring states listed) unless someone else wants to.

  • Would it be worth adding the {{Construction}} template to this Wiki? I can add it unless someone else wants to.

  • Would it be worth creating a “Maryland Events” page? The goal would be to catalog yearly events in Maryland that cause road closures. With this list and the forum we could coordinate configuring scheduled restrictions on the effected roads. If this sounds like an idea worth pursuing, I can lay out a proposal in this thread or a new one.

Seems useful. I updated your entry to use the internal Wikilinks of those other states. Maybe consider using that format for the other states.

You normally add the construction template when you are making some changes that might look visually unappealing while working on the page, or you don’t want something changing things in the middle of what you are doing.

If you want other editors to only make changes after checking with a forum, that is a different message. Currently PA is using a template like that.

A Maryland events page could be useful. For major events, we can submit the closures to waze for inclusion on the major events page.

::facepalm:: Thank you for catching that. I should have known better. I was trying to enter in a quick edit before bed and didn’t think it through.

Thank you for the heads up on the other template. I had suggested the {{Construction}} template since, in his last post, trooster10 had inferred he was still tweaking some sections of the wiki and I thought this template may prevent others from changing something he was working on.

By that description, {{Construction}} is an appropriate template while the changes are being made, then you remove that template after the construction is complete.

I added the neighboring states section based on the format of the DC wiki. That will definitely be a time-saver over searching.

I have a little note at the top about the page being a work in progress. I’m going through it today and cleaning it up. Feel free to make any changes though.

I agree that an events page would be useful. Would it be similar to this?

Some changes:

  • Added my info at the bottom
  • Added the construction template
  • Working on the landmark section to reference new places template

Sound good. I’m thinking we want to basically refer to the national guidance for the new places.

I don’t that’s what I use for state maintained roads.
