Hi everyone, I’ve been using Waze for a while but I’m new to editing.
I realise I’ve done this in the wrong order but I was trying to correct some map issues & realised I couldn’t so after browsing the forums realised that I should probably have tipped my hat here first.
Anyway, the majority of my edits are around Tidworth Garrison as Waze tries to direct you through permanently locked gates sometimes. If there are any issues with any of my edits please let me know as I’m eager to learn.
Hi
Don’t worry about any mistakes you’ve made, the first 10 edits are checked anyway to make sure you know what you’re doing and avoid having to go back and correct 100’s. I suggest you start here at the wiki
https://wazeopedia.waze.com/wiki/UnitedKingdom/Main_page
Then check out best editing practices https://wazeopedia.waze.com/wiki/Global/Best_map_editing_practice and review what you’ve done checking against the wiki.
Not everythings on the wiki so keep an eye on the forums…
Have fun.
Hi Joe, I’ll take a look at Tidworth Garrison. Can you be more specific re the locked gates?

Only the first few place edits/additions are reviewed. road changes aren’t

shout if you want more help, we’re all happy to.
Thanks both for your replies.
Norfolk what’s the easiest way for me to bring you on to the locations of the gates?
Ok so the vast majority of the time the turn needs to be a hard 90 degree angle to ensure Waze offers correct instructions?
Ref the red arrows, yes most of those are mine & correct from what I can see but I’ll go through them again when I get a chance.
I also wanted to ask, I saw something about not deleting segments but instead splitting them. Could you offer a bit more of an explanation as to both how & why?
Thanks again both of you!
We use Permalinks to link to items in the Waze Map Editor.
Turn instruction have quite a wide angle range, approx 45 - 150 degrees.
Each segments contains a wealth of hidden speed data that Waze collects as you drive along the segment. This is then used to calculate routing, based upon historic and live data. Each time you join 2 segments you create a junction node that can be used to split a segment. Example of splitting can be seen in my awful GIF.
Was just wondering if anyone had had a chance to have a look at this yet?
