New WME v2.352

Hi Everyone :waving_hand:

We hope you’re all doing great.

We’ve just launched a new version of WME v2.352 :rocket:

Below you can find a summary of the release.

Community Suggestions:

We’re happy to announce that we implemented these highly upvoted community suggestions:

  1. Selection requirement for permanent hazards and cameras: we have introduced an enhancement to prevent accidental position changes for hazards.
  1. Add “Above number of days since last comment” filter to the Issue Tracker: in this version, we are pleased to introduce an enhancement to the Issue Tracker filters.
  • You can now filter issues using the ‘Older than’ filter, allowing you to refine results based on the number of days that have passed since the latest comment.

  • Known issue: if you save a specific value for the “Days since last comment” parameter in a Saved Search, this value is currently not saved when sharing the filter with another editor, after logging in again or refreshing the page.

  • Community suggestion: Add “above” number of days since last comment filter to Issue Tracker

  • Thank you @Keith_KJ for submitting it and everyone for upvoting!

New features/enhancements:

  1. New Super-Resolution Sentinel 2 Imagery layer

With this release, we are introducing a new layer developed by Geo that enhances satellite imagery resolution from 10m to 0.5m. This makes identifying roads and buildings much easier. The grayscale imagery is updated frequently and provides a detailed recent view of infrastructure globally.

  2. Updated ‘Turn Locks’ logic: the team has updated the behavior for Turn Locks (soft turns/purple question marks). Connecting existing segments will now behave the same as drawing new ones:
  • Turns will be enabled by default.

  • No Turn Lock (purple question mark) will be generated.

  • You will remain in full control to restrict turns manually as needed.

    • Alongside this update, we’ve added a new preference in Settings: ‘Allow turns on new segments’. Enabling it ensures all turns are allowed by default when drawing new segments.

    • Please note that this does not affect U-turn arrows, which continue to be handled by a separate logic.

  • Known issue: in some cases when pulling segment’s nodes to another existing segment, the U-turn icon is shown as allowed (colored green); however, the arrow is displayed correctly (colored red, “not allowed”) after saving.

  • This change has been previously announced in this heads-up post (available for Global Champs and Coordinators).

  1. Project Biggs: added a legal disclaimer, the user’s email, and a modal linking to the “How your edits are used” article in the Google Place editor footer.

  2. Performance:

Over the last couple of weeks, the team has been implementing some infrastructure changes and, starting this week, we are upgrading our backend feature logic on the Production Environment.

This is part of a larger project to rebuild our backend system for better efficiency and stability.
While this is a backend-only update, please keep an eye out for any unexpected behavior and report it here.

The update was shared in this post.

  3. Allow venue editing permissions based on a partner’s managed area:

The team updated editing permissions for partners. They are now able to suggest edits, create, and modify venues (such as event parking lots) directly within their managed areas, without needing to be physically nearby. We expect this change to streamline the event management process. The heads-up post was shared here (accessible to Waze Partners only).

  4. SDK improvements: please refer to the change log to check the SDK additions.

Bug fixes:

We released 9 bug fixes:

  1. Update Requests: We fixed an issue where “Wrong Route” reports submitted from the app were incorrectly displayed as “Wrong Address” in WME.

  2. Events: Fixed an issue where editors received global event lists when filtering by Managed Area.

  3. Suggest an Edit:

  • Resolved the error “Container has no generated ID for property streetIDs” which occurred when higher-level editors applied specific edits.

    • Community bug ID: 384513
    • It is challenging to verify if the fix resolves all possible scenarios; we ask that you monitor the flow and let us know if you encounter any new examples of problems.
  • Addressed the problem where turns were displayed on disconnected parts of segments from suggestions.

  1. Login Screen: resolved the problem where the animation was not displayed on the welcome pop-up in the Beta environment.

  2. Project Biggs:

  • Fixed an issue where the ‘Unlink button’ remained in settings after canceling the opt-in flow.

  • Addressed a bug where category icons were not applied to the Google Places tab, making it difficult to distinguish between different place types.

  • Solved UI inconsistencies in the Settings tab when displaying long email addresses.

  • Updated the selection flow for Google Places: selected places are no longer deselected when filters are applied, but are now displayed in a separate list at the top of the Search tab.

We look forward to hearing your feedback! :envelope_with_arrow:

Thank you,
Kasia

Awesome news, but is it supposed to work like this? Lots of missing parts and when I zoom in nothing is discernible.

Ótimo!

I saw the same “super resolution” here.

This sounds like a very beta thing and could have been solved in beta prior to releasing it in prod.

Hi @Kasia-staff, I see there is a UI bug in update request list at the sort section. Can you & team check it

Hi @Kasia-staff

Quick question: 9 or 5?

The aim of the layer is to provide more frequent updates with a sacrifice in quality, useful for mapping brand new roads/infrastructure when we can’t wait for new Pneo imagery.

I’m not sure how the layer is helpful. If you look at the last couple of seconds of my clip then most of the map is gray. Only the small square has some resemblance of a map.

Thank you, the new imagery is really helpful. :+1:

Thank you! The new imagery is fantastic!

OK…I have to ask…where is this new imagery good?

This does not seem to be working for me.

Hi @Kasia-staff ,
This feature should be applied also to the situation of no (0) comments to allow handle/close old URs that no one has responded to

Please upvote Add "above number of days filter since reported date" to Issue Tracker – Waze Suggestion Box

Not for me either. @Kasia-staff

Hi,
Not sure if it’s new WME related or a general issue. The new messages indicator doesn’t reset anymore after reading the messages. This used to work though, but now the only way to reset is to read the messages via the app which is a bit odd. There isn’t any function to mark the messages read either.

Hello everyone,

Thank you for the feedback.

@LihtsaltMats , the view you shared is expected. The Super-Resolution Sentinel 2 layer was implemented to provide the most recent global data. While it might be not as clear as other layers, but it is continuously refreshing globally. Please cross-reference this layer with other sources, as we are aware that in some cases it might not be 100% accurate.

@DarkestWays , the team is still working on this issue but once it’s fixed, we will share the update.

@vdt2210 , thank you for reporting the issue. It was also submitted in a separate bug report. Could you please upvote the thread? Also, I passed it to the team for investigation. Once there are any updates, they will be shared in the linked thread.

@daviaraujo93 , we have released 9 fixes but some of them are nested under sections in the post

@RafaCintron and @sulstore , could you please specify if the filter is not applied or if the option is missing? Also, it would be helpful if you could share some screenshots for better understanding.

@sh-oded , thank you for the feedback. I will check that with the team and get back to you.

@searchjaunt , could you please check if clearing browser cache would help? I’d like to exclude the option of caching problem.

Kind regards,
Kasia
