GIS Resources

These public Geographic Information System (GIS) resources provide shapefiles and viewers for datasets such as road shapefiles, address databases, tax parcels, and aerial imagery, which are useful in WME for edits such as road geometry and attributes, house numbers, and creating area places.

Statewide

NYS GIS Clearinghouse
- Many of the relevant public GIS datasets are available as overlays direclty in WME through the WME GIS Layers (GIS-L) script
* NYS Orthoimagery Viewer (Aerial Imagery)

These are the current inventories of county routes from the NYS Highway Data Services Repository (also available here). Note that the basemaps used by the state may be outdated and show state and county routes that are no longer under their jurisdiction (be it sections or entire routes). These inventories should be the primary reference for classifying county routes. County routes do not exist in the 5 boroughs of New York City.
