No rerouting when I go the wrong way

Recently a couple of time I drove the opposite way from what Waze told me to avoid the need of a U turn. Waze continues to tell me to drive the other way and never reroutes. This didn’t used to be that way (and Google maps doesn’t behave that way either).

This definitely is not the way Waze normally behaves. It should reroute within a very short time. You can also force it to reroute by tapping the ETA and selecting “Routes”. Note that in-car behavior (CarPlay and Android Auto) may be different.

I am using CarPlay. I didn’t know that this may affect behavior beyond user interface…

Methods of doing things can be different between the app on phone and the in-car experience. For example, submitting a hazard report takes significantly more steps in-car.

If this continues to behave this way I’ll consider moving to Google Maps…

Thanks.

Can you provide more information on what’s actually happening? You say it doesn’t reroute. It doesn’t reroute ever? Or for a very long time?

This isn’t a map issue, so you may need to submit feedback using the app so developers can see the details and figure out what’s going on if we can’t help you.

I’m driving about 0.25 miles (3 blocks) and it continues to assume I’m going the other way. At this point while waiting at a stop light I stop and restart it.

How do I submit feedback with the app?

Please go to https://support.google.com/waze#topic=6262587

In the drop down under Troubleshooting & support, there are instructions on how to submit logs from the app. In addition, there is a “Contact support” that opens up a submission form.

Note: when you submit from the app, the information goes directly to Waze. The people responding on this forum are Waze users, not Waze employees. We will not have access to your logs, nor will we have status of your submission.

Also, if you tap My Waze, then the settings cog, you can scroll down to “Report an issue”. It will walk you through different types of issues (yours sounds like GPS and Network related) until you get the option to provide explicit feedback.

I’ve experienced the same using CarPlay beta.
The navigation instruction were stuck for many kilometers driven and came back to life only when I purposely rejoined the original route.
This was due to me have forgotten to re-enable highway use from a previous drive the other day.

In that situation I just continued on with my drive on highway but encountered the strange behavior,
that Waze did not perform an attempt to bring me back on the planned route.

I sent this as a beta feedback to the Testflight form, but I’m not sure this is read?
I was testing other apps in Testflight beta program and usually got feedback on the issues reported.

Navigation instruction without route, this is right after Waze crashed and restarted in CarPlay:

Same instruction without a route displayed going on for a long time:

Here the original route becomes visible on alternative road. This is after passing multiple exits from highway, where Waze would have had the opportunity to route onto the planned route.

(inlining images here to the forum seems to be broken)

If you are part of the Waze Beta program, then you should be reporting issues in Waze Discuss not Testflight
