No traffic/hazard/etc? Option to remove the announcement?

I was just thinking about it today, I reported some traffic and such, but when I came back about an hour later, the notification was still there while the traffic was already gone. I’ve noticed it more than once that there were still announcements while the traffic (or whatever announcement it was) was already cleared.

Maybe it is an idea to have something so we can click those announcements and clear them?

Open the Events Lists, such as Traffic. Find the event and swipe your finger over the event much like you are deleting an email. If you have privileges or the ability to delete the event, it will present you with a delete button or if not a button to report abuse of reports.

I’ve heard from Waze that reports are supposed to last for one hour. Then they should aotumatically disappear.

@QuickOk: Never seen this option before but maybe I looked over it… I’ll try it out.

@Deeggo: I know, but sometimes I have the feeling they’re there for much longer than just an hour.

At least in my area, manually reported reports persist for more than an hour sometimes. Automatic reporting usually expires within the allotted hour, because the jam has either cleared or expired.

Of course it’s not hard to test it out, by writing down the time of reporting and checking later. Maybe we could do that for some reports and report back here?

By the way, 1 hour seems short for some reports imho. Live police tends to stay in one place for a couple of hours over here, whereas hazards are usually removed very quickly.

Yeah for some things an hour seems short, but for other things long… lol, guess it kind of depends what the announcement was about

Btw, I tried the option and, indeed, it worked like a charm… thanks again

It shows up for me in the list (I click the arrow on the right). The menu has show on map, report as irrelevant, report abuse, and maybe something else. I don’t see why the same options are not available when clicking the event itself. When driving I try to do as little as possible on the phone, and it would be a lot easier to just click the event as you’re driving over it to remove instead of going through events, all, finding the event, clicking the arrow and then reporting as irrelevant.

I think your menu is different because you are using a Nexus One. I have the iPhone version and I have but two options, Report Abuse and Delete. If you’ve ever used Trapster, the functionality, once things are ironed out, could be vote up or down - but really that’s irrelevant since speed is being reported - or ask if the jam is still present. The only problem I could foresee with such reporting is that different people could deem “jams” differently. I think a percentage (%) of segment listed speed that the area managers set or editors (users) set would be ideal.

That’s a bit what I was thinking about the driving over it, it would make things a lot easier.

But yeah, I am using WinMo, and there it is also known as ‘irrelevant’ but it seems to do the job and that’s good enough for me for now

To get back to the time how long something stays reported… yesterday I reported a few Hazards and close to two hours after reporting, they were still showing.

Hazards will last much longer in duration, because well It’s a hazard, such as something in the road, stalled vehicle, construction, etc… so it will last much longer.
