this will be my 3rd day using Waze…loving it so far…
how can I clear or remove warnings that are no longer there? example…someone reports an accident or car on the side of the road, but when I go by, it’s no longer there… I see the little icon on my screen and can press it for details - and on that pop-up I can add a comment or thank the person - but I can’t report it as irrelevant from this screen?
I run a specific courier route in the evenings - one of my stops is directly alongside a marked road. The driveway does not appear on the map, so when I stop there, it shows me as still being on the original road. Since I stop for a few minutes, it will mark the road as red and show it as being congested - which it is not. Should I add the driveway as a road? this is a case as above where i should be able to “clear” the traffic jam as irrelevant.
If the report is for your side of the road, you will get a popup in advance of the location and you will be able to tap the “Not there” button. If the originator was driving on a cross road and reported it from there, you won’t be able to clear it, nor can you clear a hazard for the other side of the road. You can’t tell by tapping on it which side it is valid for, but the system knows and will only prompt you when appropriate. You can only clear warnings match the street and direction you are traveling.
Very likely a parking lot road, or Service Road would be appropriate here.
hmm, this seems like it would be something to add…in the example of a cop or car on the side, If its on the other side, i’m already there and can see and can report, unlike someone a mile back that hasn’t gotten there yet.
I guess being in a rural area has its disadvantages…and being as there are “less” eyes in my area, those of us that are here would need to be “better” eyes.
You can report the other direction, you just can’t clear them.
On add the driveway, I would recommend just using the map editor on the website. You eventually have to go there anyway, even if you recorded it via the client. I only use the paving feature in the client in areas where there are no good aerials to get a starting base from.
As soon as Waze gets to implementing “both lanes” instead of just one or the other, I think this will work out better as we can post most sitting police as watching both directions of traffic. However, if an officer is in a place where they can only watch one direction of traffic, that direction of traffic should be the only one notified and I am not sure I agree that traffic going the other way
And keep in mind that you can’t even report issues on the other direction if each direction is a separate 1-way road (such as a highway). If you report as ‘other lane’ that is the other direction of the same 1-way road that you are driving on (the same side of the highway), which is impossible to travel on. So this type it report will not help those on the ‘other side’ of a highway that is mapped in Waze as two 1-way roads.
As it is now reporting for the other lane is only useful for 2-way roads as mapped in Waze.
Another option is to turn off Waze when you make this stop (don’t stop the route). Then when you start Waze up again it will prompt you to continue the last route that you were on. If not on a route, still turn off Waze. This will minimize the chance of a jam being created.
They have said so, but I haven’t seen it work. I’ve tested it a few times in the last two months. The report shows on the same side as I reported, but when I drive past it the other direction, I get no prompt.
However, I could also be running into a feature where you can’t confirm or dismiss your own report?
Previously confirmed that doing a report with the other lane option does NOT work as you would expect on roads that are split as two one-ways for each direction (eg. highways).
I do not believe this is related to no prompting on reports that you submitted yourself. Waze has no way to see the other direction, which is a separate road, as the ‘other lane’.
It does indeed.
But it has nothing to do with the streetname.
It works just like a speedcam, it’s beeing activated if you drive through a circkel in a specific direction.

Someone driving South east on the A6 had reported a event on the other lane. It was just passed the bridge.
I also drove that direction, but I took the exit.
While taking the exit I made the 180 degree turn, so I was driving North East and I was getting the warning for this event, because I was inside the ‘circkel’ in the right direction.
So can anyone prove that generating a report in the ‘other lane’ on a road that is split into two one-way roads with separate naming (eg. I- 805 N / I- 805 S) will generate a pop-up alert for someone driving the other direction on the other road?
With screen shots showing the location of the PIN, the report detail, and the report pop-up?
