New WME Version 2.305

Hello everyone! :waving_hand:

We hope everyone is doing well.

A new version of WME, v2.305 has just been released :rocket:

Check out what’s changed below:

New features / improvements:

1. House Number Edit Suggestion: We have improved the visualization of objects included in an edit suggestion. Now, when moving the map to the suggestion, we ensure all relevant items are visible by calculating the highest minimum zoom level required.
2. A/B Testing Preview: We are building an infrastructure for A/B testing, allowing us to more accurately evaluate the performance of new features among different groups of editors. This structure will be used in the future, and we will keep you informed.
3. Performance: Since the end of May, we have observed a 10 to 15% improvement in loading time, thanks to a recent change in the WME code (Frontend).
4. Alignment between Suggested Edits (SAE) and Suggested Attributes (OSS): We are implementing a new process to unify the suggestion submission experience. Due to the increasing complexity of the system, the current process has become inconsistent. This new phased approach begins by aligning the SAE and OSS flows with the goal of increasing clarity and reducing the need for support.
As part of this process, we have updated the suggestion application/rejection flow. Now:

  • An explanatory tooltip appears when hovering, showing the details of each change.
  • A red “X” is displayed in front of rejected elements.
  • The change count is now accurate, correctly reflecting the actions taken.

5. House Numbers (HN) Redesign
Previously, when typing a number and trying to drag the marker immediately, it would lose focus. Now, the editor can type and immediately drag without needing to click again.
6. SDK Improvements
Check the changelog for SDK updates.

Bug fixes (10 in total):

1. Suggested Edits:

  • After accepting a suggestion, it was necessary to refresh the page for the lightbulb icon to disappear.
  • House Number and Segment layers were being deactivated when reviewing suggestions, but now they will be activated automatically. The snackbar (temporary message appearing at the bottom of the screen) will display which layers were activated.
  • When changing a house number, the old number still appeared. Now the suggested number will be shown when hovering.
  • The message “You can make changes to your edit…” will no longer be displayed for those who do not have permission to approve suggestions (when the “Apply” button is hidden).

2. House Number Improvement: It was not possible to save numbers that had been entered twice and then corrected.

3. Junction Nodes: It was not possible to connect segments by dragging nodes.

4. Map Events Filtering and Duplication: WME was crashing when undoing the duplication of an event in the “Local driving warning” category (visible only to Waze partners).

5. Turn Suggestions: Suggesting the activation of a U-turn was causing a crash.

6. Permanent Alerts: Moving a segment with a permanent alert was not activating the Permanent Alerts layer.

7. Segments: A WME error was occurring when creating a node-to-node segment.

Known issues:

  1. Alignment between Suggested Edits (SAE) and Suggested Attributes (OSS):
    • The “Apply” and “Reject” buttons remain active even after changes have already been applied to the map.
    • When opening an accepted suggestion through history, the displayed content may be outdated.
  2. House Number Edit Suggestion:
    • Suggestions already added are being displayed in the save queue.

We look forward to hearing your feedback! :envelope_with_arrow:

Happy editing!
