Perhaps a few suggestions for clarity:
City: City Name
Freeway vs Major Highway: More clarification required.
I don’t think it looks too good on the client if you keep switching from Freeway to Major Highway. I believe it has an effect on penalty points as well.
What about Wellsford where SH16 joins SH1? On SH1 there are many side roads that run off SH1. So do we specify the Road Type as Freeway or Highway? Locking at 3 vs none?
Bad grammar. Not sure how we should word it, but this paragraph needs reworking.
This contradicts the start of the wiki where you state: “Freeway, motorway, and expressway. There must be no intersections and there must be no access or exits except from ramps”
See my comment regarding Level 2 locks for StateHighways when Level 3 locks don’t apply. This should rectify this paragraph with a small bit of rewording.
Suggestion: Use abbreviation as a standard in NZ, as it will reduce text clipping on long names.
ie: …Auckland Waiwera Mtwy (N)
Same applies to Street vs St, Road vs Rd, etc…
Other than that, it looks good. 
On a general comment; Be careful when linking the New Zealand Wiki with external links (ie: to the Australian Wiki). Some of the content in Australia is not conducant and conflicts with the New Zealand charter.

A while back I edited all of the SH1 around Auckland to append “Northbound” or “Southbound” to the carriageway to aid direction guidance. Unsure what appending (N) to a carriageway name does to the navigation guidance so it may be worth using the edit approach I used if it does not speak it in a clear and obvious way if using “N” or “S)”. Once you decide, I’d also suggest moving the wording to immediately under the section where you cover Freeway/Motorway naming so that it doesn’t get missed, rather then where it currently sits below the “fold”
The text describing the exit “Exit 424: B C D - State Hwy 16 (E) and (W)” would be greatly enhanced with a photo if you can find one
I have some comments to add. I am hoping one wont cause a major debate, but it needs to be mentioned.
Locking -
I think limiting to level 3 is too high, level 2 is probably fine. After all unless things have changed since I was upgraded to level 3, its not automatic and the user has to have made quite a few changes and emailed support in order to be upgraded.
Its also difficult to say that all state highways be locked as there are still quite a few country areas which are missing the roads, but maybe this needs to be on a per road basis, eg. in cities )like New Plymouth) where SH3 runs right through it, all the roads should now be there so it can be locked to prevent changes, but where its open road currently unlocked (until I have the time to slowly go through the Tarnaki area adding all those little roads)
City Names -
The hairy topic of those little towns/villages that consit of a few hours on a State Highway. If we tick the No City field doesnt this then mean these all disappear? WE possible need to have a condition to cover these (eg. at least one other type of road is connected which has the name in it)

In this case, the roads around it are labeled so it should be fine, but there are still small places dont have city names.

Alternatives -
Are we still going to have these with city and suburb names?
I’d forgotten the impact of changing the roads to be “No City” This may be OK for Motorways as there should be exits that join roads with names, but what about traffic alerts?
If I notify a traffic jam on SH1 it would be much more useful to have it say “SH1 Manukau City” Again I’m not sure how the alerts parse the metadata so it may be that having a city makes no difference, but I think it does include city name in the alert from memory.
As nzhook says, there are lots of towns you’d never be able to navigate to if the roads were “No City” that pass through them.

I completely disagree with having the No City checkbox checked for all roads, except local roads.
As I recall, in a previous discussion this was suggested to make the Live Map look pretty. And only this.
I think most users are not at all concerned at how the Live Map looks, but are far more concerned with how the app operates on their phones and how easy it is to use for navigation. For this reason, I think all roads should have their City or Suburb name used in the City Name field.
Might be worth reading that topic again, as it was not the only reason and there were people for and people against it. I think the end result was to leave it until there are more people to comment on the issue.
As I understand it now, there are also technical reasons which Waze themselves brought to the table for using the No City checkbox, which affect routing. I dont know the exact specifics but it has been brought up in discussions in other countries.
Motorway Naming Convention
The amount of different motorway names for the same stretch of road in Auckland makes me think that using the name is a bad idea. They are long, cumbersome, not easy to search, cannot easily be shortened (“Mwy” does not translate into “motorway” in TTS in the same way “Hwy” does to “Highway”), and can be confusing (eg. is the Southern Motorway that section of motorway south of Auckland City, both sides; or does it run south from Waiwera to Huntly, one side only).
I suggest leaving the motorways labelled with the State Highway number and direction of travel. eg.
Everything else looks sweet.

Personally, I think there are two ways to approach this.
If we are going to get the SH issue fixed, we may as well go for option 2.

I’m slowley addressing issues
In my opinion there are two issues here:
routing vs reporting
The logic for droping “city name” for primary highway is to make routing more reliable and help stop search time outs with long routes. (I have problems routing from Whangarei to Palmerston North))
Now that we use Google for place name search the only reason for city name is when for example a crash is reported it will use the “street name” and “city name” to report this location.
As far as I’m concerned routing is more important than reporting

Gents, Apologies for digging up an old’ish thread but I want to check if the following was ever agreed. I’m slowly working my way around Auckland editing Ramps and I find the current naming conventions in use very cumbersome. I’d hate to be a tourist trying to navigate our motorways using the current TTS directions. Personally I fully support the following suggestion. As newbie editor I’d like some guidance before I head off and make lots of changes.
To give an example could we change
