Greetings everyone!

After last month’s edition of Waze Communities Office Hours, where we introduced the new Road Width feature, we’ve been seriously impressed with all the questions you’ve raised about how the new features we’ve been introducing will work and impact the community.

Rather than answering everyone back individually, we thought this would be a great opportunity to bring on some more experts to answer your questions live on air!

Joining us will be Office Hours veteran Gil Disatnik from the Product Team who will get into the deep details of Road Width, and Nir Schenkler from the ETA Team who will give us some deeper insights into how Waze has managed to provide reliable ETA estimates despite inconsistent history during the pandemic.

Nir’s answers to questions that needed followup:

  1. Can we have state specific (not country specific) holidays?
    We do collect and approve holidays in states, however there have been some issues associated with it in the past.

  2. Can we have state specific weekend days? (for example, Malaysia has state specific weekend days depending on state)
    We currently only support country-level rest days.

Hi Everyone,

Back with another clarification from Gil:

Always place bi-directional segments at the center of the paved road. Even if 1 direction is 4 lanes wide and the other is only 1 lane wide. So, for example in this case the segment will be placed as such:

During the Office Hours I said to place it at the separator line between the “roads”, which was incorrect.
