Hey Waze Editors,
I’m seeing a lot of “Off Road/Not Maintained” roads in my area, Cardinia Shire, that are actually “Unpaved” Streets. Here an example; Mount Burnett Rd is an unpaved street that is traffic-able. https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=row&lon=145.52245&lat=-37.97518&s=607374615&zoom=3
Has there been a change in the backend that would cause that? Or has the wrong Road Type been selected?
I’ve always thought that an unpaved road should be a different colour to a paved street.
Hi Tim,
When Waze was originally released, it did not have an “Unpaved” option on streets. At the time, all unpaved roads were implemented as “Off Road/Not Maintained”.
Since the Unpaved option has been made available, such roads are gradually converted to the appropriate road type with the Unpaved option selected.
You are welcome to update these roads where the “Off Road/Unmaintained” road type is not appropriate.
I have already updated a number of roads in this area, however, there are quite a few of them. Any help is appreciated.
