Old Harbour to St. Ann's Bay road

I want to thank you guys for updating the Jamaican maps on WAZE. Much better than Google Maps. I want to make a suggestion about the route from Old Harbour to St. Ann’s Bay how do I do that? Right now it doesn’t have Featherbed Lane or the Angels Entrance on it.

Hi! I’m adding a quick response now as I’m away for the weekend and can’t do too much on my phone. I’ll get back to you tomorrow or Monday to progress this.

Thanks

I’ve moved your post to a new thread - as you can see from the new subject.

The Angels intersection (link in the Waze map editor) on the T3 is on the map. Running a route test on the Live Map from Old Harbour (I chose by the High School as an example start) to St. Ann’s Bay (on Main St), Waze currently offers 3 routes:

  • The first takes you along the T1, A1 - Spanish Town Bypass Rd, then onto the T3 at Angels, along the T3 to the A3 - North Coast Hwy to St. Ann’s Bay, taking about 1 hr 18 mins.
  • The second takes the A2 to Spanish Town, then the A1 all the way to Ocho Rios, then the A3. Waze is suggesting this will take 2 hours and 3 minutes (I have to say I’m sceptical having driven all of those roads at some time).
  • The third suggests taking the T1 all the way to Caymanas, taking the T3 all the way and following route 1 after Angels, taking 1 hr 50 mins

Featherbed Lane is also shown on the map (link to it in the Waze editor) and would provide a short-cut between the A2 at the outskirts of Spanish Town to the A1 via Job Lane. As it is on the map as a primary street, Waze will usually prefer to keep you on a major highway or motorway as being generally quicker. If it is a fast route to use compared to taking the A2, then you should just take it and let Waze reroute you.

The choice of route is always yours. Waze has the traffic data, but possibly not as much on Featherbed Lane and Job Lane as the A1 and A2, so has given what it calculates as the fastest route which will get you reliably there.

You should be able to search for both Featherbed Lane and Angels in the app and it should happily give you directions to either. Waze does NOT remember your favourite routes. What is does do is use the increasing amount of traffic data you provide by driving your favourite routes improving their reliability scores which Waze will factor into the route calculation.

Let me know if I’ve misunderstood something or missed something out. Thanks for finding the forum and asking the question!
