Does anyone know if Waze are going to do anything with the older update requests. I have 420 PAGES of the buggers and want to see them in Papyrus so all the new features can be used.
Some of these are going back a few months and having to use cartouche to fix them.
I’m still not clear on whether the GPS track and/or routing data will be available for those older URs. I’m guessing they could dig up the former if they’re still archived;less confident that there are records of suggested routes that could be pinned down to a particular UR. Anyone know for sure?
Waze has stated that the drive and route data will not be available for the older Update Requests. It seems that the updated infrastructure that supports the new Waze Map Editor is critical to capturing the drive and route data for the Update Requests.
So without this data and any type of communication tool for Update Requests, it will be extremely difficult to solve these when imported into Waze Map Editor. May be best to try to solve them now in Cartouche since there is still the rudimentary method to communicate with the submitter. Once they are imported into WME, most will end up ‘Not a Problem’…
Or we could just vow not to just close off old ones. Many are still valid. Besides, when the new messaging thing goes in I don’t see any reason why we can’t just fix and close them. Actually we don’t even need
It could be many months until any communications system is added to Waze Map Editor. Requires database, editor, and client changes.
Waze stated at the Palo Alto Meetup that no changes that affect the database will be implemented until the rest of the infrastructure improvements are complete - estimated by Waze founder and CTO Ehud at 6 months.
In addition, Ehud was candid and stated that work had not even started on any Update Request communication system.
I would not pause on working on Update Requests. Do what you can with the information at hand. If you can’t find any issue using the tools that Waze has currently provided that makes it ‘Not a Problem’.
 And I thought about 30 pages is a huge amount. It isn’t motivating if you get such an area. So you should try to minimize the amount of the outdated quickly. I used a text which is a little bit different to my standard text. I hoped to catch the people…
Of course. I am splitting time between old and new, favouring the old URs on cartouche. Working furthest back to present. Just wondered on what they were doing with the old requests but it’s fine I’ll just carry on what I was doing.
Thanks for the info though, hard to get a solid response from HQ at times.
Waze wants to retire the old editor Cartouche ASAP. Update Requests was one of the last critical features that they had to get implemented in the new Waze Map Editor.
Waze is also working on reworking back end infrastructure that is being implemented in conjunction with the new editor. Waze has stated that they can no longer support the old editor Cartouche.
There will be some bumps in the road as things change an hopefully improve in the longer term. We have to deal with it.
I think the old UR ARE also in the new Map Editor. The problem really is that NEW UR don’t pop-up in the old Cartouche!
I’ve worked on all UR in my AM areas before I became authorized for the whole country. Now I find new URs in those AM areas and very old URs together with new URs in other areas that I couldn’t work before - all mixed and hard to find with the new Map Editor.
What I really miss is the old Interface that moved me from one place to another just by selecting the URs.
