Hello, Brazilian Wazers,
We’re very happy to announce that the new Waze ads experience will be opening in Brazil in the coming weeks!
Our initial plan is to roll out ads to just 1% of production drivers and 100% of Beta Testers for a testing period. If all goes well, we will gradually increase the audience until we reach 100% of drivers over the next few months.
Context on the new Waze Ads experience:
The Waze advertising platform is fully integrated with the Google Ads campaign platform.
Ad pins will be linked to Google Places results. When clicking on them, the user will be directed to the Ads Location Preview Page, which uses Google data. If the Google Place is linked to a Waze location, the user will be routed to the Waze coordinates.
This matching process is passive, unlike the old advertising platform which took control of Waze location pins and sometimes caused location quality issues. The new ad pins have no impact on Waze locations in WME.
Ad pins will appear on the map and, by tapping on them, drivers can start navigation or add a stop to the location:
NOTE: You can only add 1 stop per route. Users will see this warning if they exceed the limit:
Reporting Bad Ad Pins Google’s “My Ad Center” is integrated, allowing users to get more information about why they are seeing an ad and report ads when necessary.
While we currently do not support reporting map issues on individual ad pins directly through Waze, we expect that updating locations through Projects Orca and Biggs will have a positive impact on location accuracy on the Google Maps side. We also encourage you to link Waze locations to Google Maps places in WME, which will help improve search results as a whole.
We want to hear your opinion as soon as this new experience is launched. Please comment below with any feedback or questions you may have!
Mauro, on behalf of the Waze Communities team
