Proposed change to the Places/Hospital and Urgent Care page.

  1. Clarifying that there are two types of Emergency Rooms - in main hospital and separate building and how to map them.
  2. Changing Place area and Place point to the Glossary terms and common usage of area place (AP) and point place (PP).

This is reasonable, just to clarify that the separate section for area vs point would then be deleted.

Yes, This proposal would replace the current “Emergency Room (ER)” section under the ‘’‘Place point or area’‘’ heading. I added the current section to my draft under a “tear line” to help clarify what is being replaced.

I found that skimming the first part of the Emergency Room (ER) section makes you think that they should be area places. You have to note that this is for standalone buildings. Also since this is not the majority of Hospital ERs it doesn’t make sense to have it listed first.

Since there are two paragraphs in the Emergency Room (ER) section and they are not bulletized or numbered then the second paragraph can be considered amplifying information and may not be read. By numbering the two paragraphs it becomes clearer there are two options so read both to see which is applicable. It also puts the most common one first.

In a quick review of the wazeopedia, the picture in the Buildings on property section showed point places for the ERs then when you read the ER section it is initially talking about area places. Plus even the standalone ERs could be within the area place’s polygon for the hospital campus so then the second paragraph also kicks in and says make it a point place. Yes understand the second paragraph’s intent is for being within the main hospital building, but it can be read differently. This change fixes all of these problems.
