Paved roads marked as 4x4

I’ve come across a large number of clearly paved roads that are in WME as 4x4. Is there some local editing custom/reason for doing this? Here’s an example:

Just wanted to check before I switch these to street. Per the Thailand Wiki we shouldn’t only use 4x4 when roads are difficult for a car to navigate. These are paved and wide enough to fit a car.

Cannot check SV atm (on mobile) but it seems pretty obvious the 4x4 typing has been used as a mean to avoid traffic. There could be a local reason (market?). Have you tried contacting the original editor?

In general: You will encounter a lot of streets, names, places, etc. that aren’t in compliance with the Wiki. The Thai Wiki is a recent development, originating from the best practices in Thailand and sharpened up a bit. During the MapRaid it has seen its first massive use. And feedback from Raiders has helped improving the Wiki.
The way forward for all Thai editors now is 2 fold.

  1. Expand and improve the map according to Thai and global Wiki (in that order), and
  2. Improve the Thai Wiki by means of reporting situations/problems and taking part in discussions about solutions.

I know this general part reads as a mission statement. That’s because I seized the opportunity to write this for all existing and new editors.

By the way : Near the end of MMR3 we’ve introduced a new AM application form. Would you be so kind to fill in this form so we can have a complete overview of AM’s and their areas.

looks like they can all be street.
they are from 2014, when there were no guidelines. According to current guide and general editing, this is nowhere near a dirt road, so you can change them all, as far as i’ve seen. Please do check with SV (i only checked about 6).

Thanks Arnoniem! I’ve seen this with other editors, usually from Russia areas, so I think this is something that is a local custom there.

Dutchdirt -> I’m trying to fill out the form, however it asks me if the AP application is New, Expansion, or Renewal. I already have my AM rights, and I’m not looking to expand them nor have they expired. Which option would you like me to choose?

Hi, the goal is just to get an overview of your current Thai area so we can fit other areas around you. We just wanna see who’s where. So if you could option Renewal it’ll work fine.
