Pennsylvania UR Cleanup Raid

PA Editors:

I’d like to propose a 2 week concerted effort to clean up / resolve all UR’s that are over 30 days old with a real goal of 14 days. Using UR-MP, editors can easily scan their respective EA’s and find these URs and make a determination of what needs to be done. Of course there are exceptions but I see no reason why we can’t close these UR’s by either solving the problem or determining that some type of MC is necessary. We have some UR’s that have been open for years because they were used in lieu of MC’s before MC was a feature. I’ve migrated some of them in the Nanticoke area for long term construction but there are others. If there is no desire/interest in taking on such an effort, I’d like to have special dispensation to take this project on myself and begin to work them to closure one at a time without the need to contact the last editor on the UR and have to wait for some type of response.

I worked a similar effort in my NY AM and cleaned up every UR over a period of 3-4 weeks. Some had been on the map for over 2 years.

Ok, my shields are up, you can start shooting in my general direction.

I’m in, whether it be official or just a side project.

It’s definitely a worthy focus point and I’ll help out however I can. I don’t know about the two metro areas, most of the old URs I’ve seen are off the beaten path and just outside my reach where it’s more rural.

Sure. Why not? I think there are some tools out there that can facilitate us working together as a team to deal with the oldest URs in the state first and work our way to the present.

This has been my editing focus as of late. Whenever I have time to edit I’ve been focusing on these. They can be time consuming and uninteresting, but I agree it is an important step to keep happy Wazers and gives us the ability to see new ones sooner.
My EA is all Western PA so I’ve been chipping around the edges of Pittsburgh. Along with several other editors, the area is starting to look much cleaner, except for PLA MPs (even less fun than PURs) ;D

sikemever,

It’s a great initiative for PA to do a local mapraid to tackle old URs. I would love to see a report of all open URs if you have it. Have you seen this: “Weekly UR Stats and Hall of Fame”

Here’s just one more tool we can try out:
A google map for Pennsylvania

This is updated weekly or sooner, but we can ask for daily updates for a cople of weeks if we want to.
Just delete a pin when it is closed.

Perfect

Hey Orbit. When you run that NY report for this week. Let me know if you see a guy named sikemever in it. I’m going to make a prediction.

Voludu – I like the map, do you know if there is an easy way to generate some basic counts when it is created so that progress can be tracked week over week?

I wasn’t thinking of anything as elaborate as the NY reporting; but being able to graph the trend would show the progress the team is making in reducing the counts.

While there have not been updates since 1/31, I expect the map will update in the next couple of days.

The (stale) count from the current map is 530 open URs total. So let’s see what the next count looks like.

I’m in for this. We can learn so much from UR reports and improve the map greatly.

Here’s another great tool, updated frequently, broken down by county.

Now we have 545 URs in Pennsylvania. Is this a useful tool for finding URs that can use some attention?
