Reason: Slip road exiting A1139 onto roundabout for A1260 has been closed and the signs say it is expected to be closed until 1st November. I’ve tried marking the road as closed using the Waze app while driving, but it keeps reopening it incorrectly for some reason, resulting in repeated incorrect routing.

On an unrelated note, how do editors get to the point where they can be trusted to make changes independently? It seems like every road requires level 4 editor status, and there’s no way to submit suggested edits or something without going via the unlock process, which often just leads to someone who is already level 4 making the edit - kinda makes it hard to get to the stage where an aspiring editor has any edits to prove their worth, bit of a chicken and egg situation!
Your editor level will increase with your edit count, and later on experience will also come in to play. Level 2 is awarded automatically at 3000 edits, and although this sounds like a lot, it can be achieved surprisingly quickly by fixing simple problems such bad road geometry, missing places/house numbers/new estates, etc.
I’d suggest focusing on residential areas where the roads are more likely to be locked at L1.
The lock levels of roads are based on how ‘important’ they are. As I’m sure you can imagine, allowing anyone to edit a major road without some kind of moderation could be disastrous, so these need to be protected. A mistake on a little residential road is an inconvenience to a few people, whereas a mistake on a major road could be a big problem for hundreds or thousands. Whether an editor decides to unlock a segment or make the change on your behalf is down to individual discretion as every editor has a different view on whether to unlock or just do it themselves.
