Magandang araw sa inyo michellcorsino and welcome to the pinoy waze community,

this feature is currently in progress for the PH (activated for local Beta testers) and will be released to production users in due time.

Cheers & Mabuhay!

oh, and which particular country would that be if i may inquire?

Not to be that necromancer but I think this feature is now Live

The feature has been available for a long time now but was open to all countries recently.

Hi guys!

that’s correct, the Speed Limit feature was activated and rolled out to the production version of the waze app on the eve of August 23 Tuesday (as far as the Philippines is concerned).
But was long available and extensively tested by Beta version users.

[ Vielen Dank Vince  ]

Hi
May i know where the speed limits per street came from? Im tasked to verify the speed limits. Are these mandated limits? Can i get a copy of this and from which authority? Thanks

Segments (streets, highways etc) speed limits are set by the community, based on local government laws.
In case of streets they have to be manually set, and in case of Primary Streets and up it can be automatically set by the average of the same segment in your country
Cheers!

Thanks for the reply. There are streets indicated in waze with speed limit but when I asked local government traffic department they said there is no mandated limit in that area. Since this is from the community then am I to assume that some of the limits are subjective ideas of contributors and have no actual basis in law or government regulation?

Magandang araw muli sa lahat,

Speed Limits in the Philippines are mandated by the REPUBLIC ACT (RA) No. 4136

This law encompasses ALL roads with the exception of areas and places where speed signages exist to guide drivers accordingly.

Dead link sirs

While on the subject, is speed limit editing reserved only to area managers? thanks

REPUBLIC ACT No. 4136
CHAPTER IV
ARTICLE I

Section 36. Speed limits uniform throughout the Philippines. - No provincial, city or municipal authority shall enact or enforce any ordinance or resolution specifying maximum allowable speeds other than those provided in this Act.

No, it is not. But editors who only do speed limits are flagged as pointswhores who are after an easy level-up and are therefore distrusted by the community.

Unless the editor is known to the local community and his intentions are made known. Maybe then the said editor can be given some slack. Understand elchicomalo_wis (that username doesn’t help) that the active editors have poured a lot of time in creating and maintaining the map. They don’t look favorably when someone messes around with it.
