Police Audible Notification and Notification Volume

I’m new here and I don’t know if this has been suggested lately, but I also use the Motion X GPS Drive ap on my iPhone 4 and I can tell the volume on it, while just using the iPhone 4’s speaker, is much louder turned up to the max then it is on Waze. Can something be done about that? The Waze voice is really low even turned up to the max. I know about carkits and all that, I just want it to be at least as loud as other aps while just using the iPhone’s speaker.

Secondly, tying into that, is it possible to have a choice to switch the Police notification to have a unique alarm, tone or shriek that goes off when coming up to a previous “Police” siting? This way you don’t have to keep watching the screen while driving or have to have your radio turned down just to try to hear Waze. It would only go off on your mapped route or street that you’re on. I don’t really need to know about the cop that’s 5 miles away that isn’t anywhere near where I’m at or going.

Third, can we have the choice of reducing the distance of things we get notified to a mile or under. There’s just too much useless information that pops up, happening miles and miles away and I already have notifications set to 5 miles right now. Other, than this, I think Waze is a killer ap and I’m starting to use it more than my paid for Motion X ap.

For whatever reason Waze TTS navigation commands are at a much lower volume level than some of the competition. I don’t know if it’s the base level of the voice instructions or some other issue. No known way to resolve.

The minimal setting (no street names announced) is a bit louder than the Full setting (TTS with street names announced).

You get a verbal notification when approaching a police report from the same direction as reported. We are trying to convince HQ that they need a both, but for now, only in the same direction as reported.

The reports distance can be controlled in the settings panel, though it does auto adjust to take in account distance to a navigated destination.

So you can have it set to 1 mile in the settings, but if your destination is more than 50 miles away, you will get more than 1 mile.

I also have a hard time hearing the voice. My other apps are so much louder. I don’t use a lot of the features because the volume is too low. (even when its set to the max).

If you are on iOS, note that iOS keeps a separate per-app volume setting. You can only change it using the volume buttons while that app is playing a sound via the speaker. It’s tricky, I know. Thank Apple. If you aren’t on iOS, then you may happily ignore this. :stuck_out_tongue:

The volume is set to the max and the problem persists.

There is a second volume control in last week’s iOS released. Not sure of it helped.

I’m not drunk…I’m using Tapatalk.

There are 3 volume settings: iOS volume setting, iOS-saved volume setting per app (only can be changed while the app is playing sound), and the Waze prompt volume.

Perhaps an option to note which way the police is facing would help when it is reported. I find its easier to see police cars when they are monitoring the other lane.

That’s what the “my lane” and “other lane” is for when reporting.

… but only on two-way roads … on freeways and other divided “split” roads, “other lane” does not act as one would think that it should (for example, “other lane” while driving on “I-86 E” should place the report on the corresponding segment of “I-86 W” – but it doesn’t).

Absolutely correct. Waze knows this and are supposed to have it on their radar to fix.
