I had a situation tonight where the police were setting up. I tagged them as police on my side of the road and went shopping around the corner.
After shopping I checked Waze and sure enough, the police icon was missing from Waze. I drove back to where they were to see if they’d left and they were still there! I marked them again.
I then got home, checked Waze and they were gone again!
I noticed both times passing them that a few of the police were on their phones. I thought to myself “I wonder if they’re checking Waze?”. It turns out they probably were. I’m in a very small town and I think there’s only myself and a couple of others using Waze so for them to keep disappearing would indicate the police are involved in removing my reporting of them.
The whole point of this post is that I’d like to make contact with the developers with my time and location data so they can use that info to determine HOW the police removed themselves from the map and help improve this excellent app.
How can I go about getting this info to them?
If the police can work around the app that quickly then it’s useless and I want Waze to be the best it can be.
OK I’ve trawled the net to find a contact info for the waze crew but can’t. Can a developer please Private Message me so I can pass my info to you to help stop police removing our notifications of them. Right now they know how to do it and it makes Waze inaccurate and open to their abuse. Thanks so much.
The only way to remove (thumb down) a report is when one is driving in the direction of the report. It’s barely imaginable that they bypassed themselves with their car.
Most likely in that 15 minutes until the report is live noone “liked” (thumb up) that so it was removed automatically.
