[Poste aqui] Alterações pontuais

Link to IBGE Brazilian road network
In the Introduction I suggest replacing the text “… enumerators, but they are not immune to errors.” with “… enumerators, which does not happen continuously. Therefore, the information may be outdated and/or subject to errors.”

I couldn’t understand the titles
Municipality Geocode (Method 1)
and
Municipality Geocode (Method 2)
It seemed to me that the text of the first item actually teaches how to find the municipality code and the second how to obtain the available map data. So, I suggest replacing the first title with “Obtaining IBGE map data” and removing the second title.

Obtaining IBGE map data
To obtain the municipality code, simply access the link https://cidades.ibge.gov.br/, click on Get started, then on Municipalities.
Type the name of the municipality in the field Which municipality are you looking for? and click on the link that appears below.
Images
We used the municipality of Buritirama, BA as an example.

To access the maps, we must download and install a PDF reader and Google Earth.

The links are to Wikipedia. Wouldn’t a direct link to a page where the software can be downloaded be better?

The FTP protocol no longer works, but you just have to change it to HTTPS and it works normally. For example
https://geoftp.ibge.gov.br/organizacao_do_territorio/malhas_territoriais/malhas_de_setores_censitarios__divisoes_intramunicipais/censo_2010/setores_censitarios_kmz/

But there are more organized pages with information
https://www.ibge.gov.br/geociencias/downloads-geociencias.html?caminho=organizacao_do_territorio/malhas_territoriais/malhas_de_setores_censitarios__divisoes_intramunicipais/2021/Malha_de_setores_(kmz)_por_municipios

I’ll keep looking for the right pages to make things more organized.

I get the city codes from this link:
https://www.ibge.gov.br/explica/codigos-dos-municipios.php

And I get the files at:

This link https://www.ibge.gov.br/geociencias/downloads-geociencias.html?caminho=organizacao_do_territorio/malhas_territoriais/malhas_de_setores_censitarios__divisoes_intramunicipais/2021/Malha_de_setores_(kmz)_por_municipios
provides access to the municipality files by name, without needing to know the code. So I believe it is no longer necessary to know the municipality code.
Meanwhile, this link https://geoftp.ibge.gov.br/organizacao_do_territorio/malhas_territoriais/malhas_de_setores_censitarios__divisoes_intramunicipais/censo_2010/setores_censitarios_kmz/ provides access to the state files.
Considering this, this page could be much simpler.

I opened the two KMZs provided in the links and in the end I couldn’t see the street names; the first one only shows sectors (villages, etc.) and the second only shows the code for each area.
I couldn’t see any use for it in the end. In the links I sent, you see the city code, go to the other link, open the SHP in Earth, and see the street names, as I already showed in the YouTube tutorial.

Thanks, VitorGoiabeira.
Since the IBGE website has been modernized, I thought there would be a simpler way to access the files.
What do you think about adding a link to VitorGoiabeira’s video tutorial on Wazeopedia?

I think that’s a good idea, until we have a more practical way than this.

Hi everyone!

Just so we don’t miss a broken link along the way
The link for Scripts / Extensions on the Main page has an error .

Sure, Alê. We’ll fix it as soon as our wiki editing permissions are restored.

Broken link on the Wazeopedia page about gas stations

https://www.waze.com/wiki/Brazil/Locais/Posto_de_combustível

“ANP website.”

The link on the ANP website is broken, I believe it has been changed.

It has indeed been changed: Gas Station Search
Regards.

Hi everyone, I’ve found several broken links on this page and managed to get updates for some of them; here are the details:

To supplement this information, I’ve found maps for other states:

Hi everyone, during the mentorship I’m doing under Idomar’s guidance, I noticed that the Places/Parking Lot page has an untranslated section.

I translated the missing parts and would like to know the best way to contribute. Should I post it here or send it to someone in charge?

You can post it here @rael_gc, the person in charge follows the topic.

Thanks (once again) Idomar!

I’ll keep it below in markdown format to make it easier for whoever edits the Wiki later.
### Guidelines

Interpreting “distinct and significant”

For a Parking Place, the principles of “distinct and significant” mean that a building or land must be fully dedicated to parking services and no other activity. A parking lot that, even if meeting other criteria, is part of a multi-use structure, does not meet these principles. However, if the structure justifies being an Area Place for other reasons, “Parking Lot” can be added to its category list, provided the parking satisfies the principles of general public use and general purpose use.

Extent

Parking Places should be mapped within the property boundaries (the “area line”). If these boundaries are not clear, map to the extent of the land, structure, or garage.

In situations where a compliant Parking Lot is located within the boundaries of another Area Place, it may be better to add “Parking Lot” to the larger Area Place’s category list. Compliant parking lots located within a much larger Area Place, such as an airport, should still receive their own separate Area Place within the larger Area Place.

Naming

Like all Places, Parking Places must have a name.

If a parking facility or area has an official name, such as “Beach Street Garage”, “18th Avenue Lot”, “Short Term Parking”, etc., its Place should reflect that name to facilitate searches.

Generic parking lots of the Park & Ride type (or, in English terms, “Park & Ride”) are common in European and North American cities, where the goal is to prevent people from using cars to reach downtown areas, allowing them to park at a more distant station in the network and board the transport system from there. Such locations should be named consistently according to local customs, for example, as “Park & Ride”.

If a Parking Place exists within a larger Area Place, do not repeat the full name of the larger Place. For example, if the Guarulhos Airport Parking is contained within the “Guarulhos International Airport” Area Place, it is not necessary to name it “Guarulhos International Airport Parking”; “Parking” is sufficient.

In some cases, a city may provide unmarked public parking that is not associated with an Area Place. These can use a name starting with the municipality or district, for example, “Ponta Grossa Public Parking”. Do not use completely generic names like “Parking” or “Public Parking” for anonymous parking facilities. Names like “Santa Casa Parking” should also be avoided, as they suggest the parking is dedicated: because if it really is dedicated, it should not be a Parking Place. And if it isn’t, the name should not suggest it is.

As with all Area Places, do not use map abbreviations for any part of the Parking Place name.

Free vs. Paid Parking

As long as the parking meets the three principles mentioned above (general public use, general purpose use, distinct and significant), it is eligible for a Parking Place, regardless of whether it is free or paid.

Suppression of automated problem reports

Like Gas Station Places, Parking Places suppress Waze’s automated “Map Problem” reports, such as for missing roads; therefore, the Parking Place should never be drawn over or connected to high-traffic roads.

Special cases

Airports

Airports typically distinguish their parking between terminals, whether they are short or long term, and for pick-up/drop-off. As common navigation destinations, these parking facilities deserve to be marked with Parking Places and named according to the airport’s official nomenclature, even if it means creating Parking Places inside an Airport Area Place.

Bus and train stations

Bus and train stations are often located in city centers and may offer public parking. In some stations, this parking may be in general use areas. In other stations, parking in these areas may be illegal. Therefore, whether or not to mark a bus or train station’s parking with a Parking Place depends on the local situation. Regardless, if, per local Waze convention, the entire station complex would be marked with an Area Place, the boundaries of that Area Place may include its associated parking. In this case, as long as the parking is compliant, the “Parking Lot” category can be added to the complex’s category list.

Privately operated public parking

Private companies sometimes offer public parking in urban centers and near airports. Privately operated parking facilities that support short-term, general-purpose public parking may receive Parking Places, subject to the ‘distinct and significant’ principle as explained previously. Private facilities intended only for long-term parking are special purpose and unsuitable for a Parking Place.

Rental car return

With the availability of the “Car Rental” Place, rental car return facilities, including at airports, should be marked with this category. If the return location is a normal parking lot, mark it with the “Parking Lot” category and mark the building with the “Car Rental” category.

Examples

Parking Place should be used for:

 • Generic Park & Ride parking and similar municipal parking lots;
 • General-purpose short-term public parking lots, structures, or garages dedicated exclusively to parking and independent of any shopping mall, complex, campus, or other specific final destination.
 • Municipal public parking serving an airport.

Parking Place should NEVER be used for:

 • Street parking, whether parallel, angled, or perpendicular.
 • Private parking for employees, students, or residents.

Inclusion of non-compliant parking within larger Area Places

If an entire complex justifies an Area Place, any associated parking can be included within its boundaries; for example, a shopping mall Area Place with dedicated parking can include all associated shops and parking. Ensure this conforms to local editing conventions before doing so. Even if this is done, however, the larger Area Place remains ineligible to include the “Parking Lot” category if the parking involved is dedicated and therefore special-purpose.

Parking Points

At the time of writing, the display of Parking Areas versus Parking Points is unclear. In the future, Parking Points may be useful for identifying parking in certain situations that would not be appropriate for an Area Place, for example, parking zones in campgrounds, parks, stadiums, or theme parks, privately operated long-term public parking, or parking located within a multi-use structure.
Currently, when using WME, Parking Lots can only be created as Areas. Existing properly identified Parking Lots that do not comply with the Parking Lot Place guidelines can be temporarily converted into Point Places. Unnamed Parking Lots that do not comply with the Parking Lot Place guidelines should not be marked with the “Parking Lot” category at all.

Hi everyone. During the mentoring session with Idomar Cerruti, I noticed that although they are not listed in the Abbreviations table, the abbreviations Ten. (lieutenant) and Brig. (brigadier) are read by the WME TTS, which suggests to me that these abbreviations are being correctly spoken in the app, but I’m not sure. In any case, I request the inclusion of these two in the table on the Abbreviations page, in the appropriate section.

Regards,

Renato

Not all abbreviations that expand in the TTS necessarily expand in search.
The table only lists the abbreviations that meet both requirements.
