I just installed Waze 3.0 on my Iphone 4. The settings have the option to “prefer goodie munching”, but no option to “prefer cookie munching”. I’ve heard that this is supposed to be an option… where is it?

It’s gone! Seems that some of these setting options can be modified on the back end (no new client build) and that maybe Waze read the other threads where the prefer cookie munching option was causing routing issues, update requests, and generally doesn’t work correctly.
OR
Maybe they changed the option with the anticipation of goodies being released and will change it back after the goodies promotion is done. Maybe Waze can change current options via the back end but not add additional options. And likely Wazers will get the same bad results/routing using the prefer goodie munching as they do with prefer cookie munching. Booo!
I can confirm that it still doesn’t work. It’s not as bad as it was before, but I drove around with it on while Christmas shopping tonight and it didn’t seem to be taking any unusual routes. On the way home, it diverted me off my normal route…half a block from a candy cane that I would’ve gotten if I’d kept going.
It took me through some neighborhood streets where there were no goodies, steered me another block around a snowflake, and then back onto the major street that is my normal route. It turned me into my neighborhood a block early and picked up a candy cane.
All that for 2 points, plus the 5 for the extra mile I drove.
