Once the tile updates, I’ll find out how this works. It’s less than 10 miles from my flat, so it’s not a big deal to drive over there.
When I read the Wiki Junction Style Guide, it said that for forking intersections, freeway interchanges, and the like – the segments need to be angled apart between 10-15 degrees at the split. If that’s true, then there should not be any extra driver instructions for a split of only 1-2 degrees.
The Style Guide also says that for proper wayfinding instructions, the splitting segments cannot have the same name. These do indeed have the same name as the original road, so that should likewise foil any extra wayfinding instructions.
If Waze DOES tell drivers who are already in the right lane to “keep right,” at least my attempt at addressing this problem won’t cause any accidents between the tile update and whenever we can figure something else out. There’s nothing even slightly elegant about this hack, but if it works – it’s one more trick to put in the bag until whatever year Waze gives us the TBR option of making a road part-time private.
Worst case scenario: somebody submits a UR because Waze told them to “keep right” when there was only one lane on the right side of the road. I’ll post again after I test this out ![]()
