In the last week, I’ve made well over 100 edits repairing mistakes made by the same Level 3 Editor. Is there a policy that I should follow in this situation in terms of reporting such an experience?
Or shall I assume that this is par for the course and perhaps only a small percentage in relation to possible hundreds of thousands of edits?
SOME errors is simply us being human. But if you see constant errors from the same individual, you can reach out to them via PM if you are comfortable with that and can keep a calm helpful approach. If you don’t want to contact them yourself because they are a higher level or you are simply not comfortable, bring it to the attention of your regional coordinator. In your case, that is me
So if you’d like some help or a second opinion, please send me a PM as to not call people out in a public forum. Permalinks to examples are very helpful.
You could PM your area coordinator (Jasonh300) or another Country / Area Manager with a sample permalink or image. Also, have you PM’d this particular editor?
And while a Level 3 editor should know better, especially if these same type of errors recur on recent edits, we do make mistakes and are learning. A few months ago a local editor created dozens of new segments and left them “red” (i.e., the city / street name(s) are left blank), I PM’d the editor & included relevant links to the wiki / forum posts so that he’d become aware of it. He was thankful and has since done a better job w/ his editing. I find that a better result for the overall map than for me to fix them.
Often I’ve made changes and was alerted several days later by a UR (User-reported error) or MP (map / system generated error) which allowed me to fix it myself. Or another editor sends me a PM.
For example, if you correct the street name of a segment your username is made the last editor - which makes it important to check all aspects of the segments edited before moving on.
