Hi All,
There has been a lot of confusion lately as to the GUIDELINES of posting Unlock Requests. In case you didnt know where to find them - on the top of this forum under Announcements - or have any questions, I would like to clarify some main points and procedures for everyone’s sake.

Editors, Champs and forum moderators, are constantly checking this forum to make sure every request has been resolved. When browsing the forum, the “Subject Line” will show if the request is in their area and if it requires/meets their rank. Help them, help you, by posting complete Permalinks (PL’s) , by adding a short description of the issue and by providing all relevant information. Including your rank in the “Post’s Body” informs them of the rank you would like the segment/s or area lowered to.

Things to Keep in Mind:
- Careful consideration is taken into account whether to unlock and allow you to fix yourself or to simply fix it. More complicated segments/issues will most likely be fixed even when an unlock is requested.
- Remember you are asking other volunteer editors, just like yourself, for a favor. Please mind your etiquette. This is a Request Forum, not a Demand Forum.
- Once your initial request was fixed, DO NOT reply with additional requests. Mark it solved and post a new topic.
- Be patient. You may not receive a response immediately, but you will get answered.
- Do not bump your post. If it is an important edit (ie. Multiple UR’s due to the edit required) send a Private Message (PM) to your Area Manager (AM) or Local Champ.
- Besides for the actual segment you would like changed, make sure to Highlight every Locked segment that the change for the requested segment effects.
Example: If you are trying to enable a left turn onto a locked road, the segments to the right and the left of the road you would like to edit need to be selected in your PL. You will not be able to change the turn if only the left is lowered, since the Node you are editing still has a higher segment attached to it. Selecting multiple segments can be done by simply holding down the CTRL key while clicking each additional segment. You can also use the ‘M’ key as an “on/off switch” and select as many segments as you like. This is helpful when there are a lot of segments since it wont lose the highlighted segments if you mistakenly click elsewhere on the map.
Further Clarification:
- 1- Subject Line:
A. Write the Level/Rank NEEDED to fulfill the request.
TIP:If you are requesting multiple segments, you only need to list the Level/Rank of the segment with the highest lock. An editor with that Level/Rank will then be able to resolve the request in its entirety.
B. City and State where the Unlock is being requested. - 2- Body of Post:
A. Write YOUR Level/Rank. Yes, even if its already in your signature.
B. Explain the issue and why you need the segment lowered. Be Clear and Concise.
TIP: Point out any indications that lend support of the required Edit. (Streetview (SV), Update Requests (UR’s), Government maps etc.)
C. Post a Permalink (PL) with the segment/s that needs to be fixed highlighted. The PL needed is from the Waze Map Editor(WME) site, NOT from the LiveMap. - D- Give Thanks and MARK SOLVED!.
TIP: Consider replying with a new PL highlighting the segments that need to be Re-locked. “Say” Thank you.
