Reading, MA UR

Hi,

The UR in this area reports “wrong driving directions”. It appears that the app is telling drivers who need to travel from Willow (southbound) on to (southbound) West St to turn right on Summer, and another right on West St. (NORTHbound) and to turn around on to West St. (Southbound).

I cannot tell from WME why it would ever want to do this.

Any suggestions on how to handle?

That is the route that the driver took, but that is not necessarily the directions Waze gave them prior to the error report. In fact, I have a pretty good idea what happened:

Judging by the lack of turn restrictions at that “triangle” intersection, I’d be willing to bet that Waze told them to turn right at Summer Ave and then left at West St–and that there is a sign prohibiting that left turn onto West St–so the driver had to turn right onto West St, then make a U-turn.

Fixing that turn restriction (and others in that triangle) will help Waze avoid unnecessary detours. Also, the Summer Ave side of the triangle should connect to West St before the intersection with Arcadia Ave. Keeping both of those roads separate all the way to the intersection just makes the map (and verbal instructions) harder to follow.

Please PM me to review the fix once you’re done. Thanks for your help!
