I am not sure if there is any script already available for this. Anyway, I’d like to know any script for mass selection segments that have alternate names. Then, remove all of them.
Script Road selector does part of this, selecting segments that has alternate names, but we cannot delete all the alternate names at once. As the street names are different among the segments, WME select “none” the Street name field. Then, when saving, it returns an error.
So, it is necessary a script to select the segment that has an alternate name, and remove it, and so on…
I am not a Java Script expert, but I think it is not a big deal to create such…

The script would have to go through the list of unique primary names and generate a separate save command for each of them. Not sure this is possible or even a good idea. Right now, you can at least select a segment, ctrl+a, then remove click the X on each alternate name you want to remove. Repeat for each primary name set of streets.
Tools are helpful, but can also cause big unintended results. Often, the way built into WME is generally safer, though it may take a little longer depending on what kind of change and proficiency of the user.

Currently the issue is that you can select multiple segments by ALT name and delete all the ALT names manually. However, it seems that when you try to save you get an error IF the primary name is different. Correct?
Based on that above assumption, it sounds like it would be best to select all by ALT name and edit in batches based on primary name. Meaning, edit/remove all the ALT names on segments with a common primary name then, ask you to save and click continue after you have saved the changes for the group with a common primary name.
Does that sound like the correct methodology?

What I see, doing it manually, is exactly as you described.
If one could make a script based on it, it would be perfect!

I would like to consult some of the members of the WMETB team regarding limiting user access to specific tools and functions and see what they have to say. I feel that a tool like that could be created and if used wisely could be extremely beneficial, but has a large potential for abuse. And we have seen lately that Waze is trying to crack down on abuse.
I would only be comfortable participating if
A) I can gain access to and integrate their methods for limiting users
or
B) have it integrated into WMETB to use their code for limiting users
