Hello all,
I’m a long time user of Waze, but rather new editor so I had a question that hopefully you all can help me with. A new neighborhood is being build just south of ours. There is no through-way to get from our neighborhood to that one, and our roads are all private roads. The problem first started with heavy construction vehicles coming into our neighborhood thinking they could cut through, and some of which went off-roading to do so. We have since put up a fence and signs to stop construction vehicles. However, now the buyers and sellers are using GPS to get there and now they’re coming through our neighborhood. They all claim their GPS took them this way (Same with the construction workers). I’m wondering the best way to prevent this? I just went into all of the roads in our neighborhood and marked them as private, but is there a better way? I don’t want to mess up people actually trying to get to addresses in our neighborhood.
The primary road through our neighborhood btw is Artifact Dr. in Zephyrhills, FL. You can see the new neighborhood immediately to the south of us.
Hi, thanks for bringing this to our attention. For starters, we use private roads for a very specific subset of roads in Waze so I’ve changed those back to public streets. I believe the issue is the addresses for the new neighborhood. I’m going to work on the neighborhood a bit and add the house numbers and see if there are any errant Google pins that might be sending folks the wrong direction. Once this has been fixed, we can see what else might be wrong.
Thank you for fixing that! The bottom line is we just need them to go around to the main Silverado entrance, which is off of Eiland Blvd. We don’t need them coming through our neighborhood, because there is no way to get there from here.
So I haven’t been able to get an exact address, but I know they are going to the houses on Boxer Round Place. I just haven’t been able to get a house number yet.
Thanks for the info. We’ve mapped this entire new neighborhood in detail and I can confirm that Waze correctly to this address approaching from the south, not via Artifact Dr. However, other navigation applications may still route incorrectly through your neighborhood. Hopefully, our updates will at least reduce some of the traffic.
Will this carry over into Google? I know Google owns Waze now, but I’m not sure how much is shared. If not, where would I request the same changes in Google Maps?
As far as I know, the only way to request a problem be fixed on Google Maps is to report it on their app or report it on their website at maps.google.com.
