Road closures in North Tyneside

Whitley Bay to Tynemouth Promenade (from Brook Street, Whitley Bay)

Park View , Whitley Bay

High Street West, Wallsend A193

These closures look like they will be in place for a long time. The promenade closure will cause havoc especially sunny weekends

From Brook Street on this section southbound. Northbound not closed

Looks like someone’s already put these closures on the map.

Apologies, I started these, got distracted due to personal matters, now I believe I have added them all based on North Tyneside Council plans and pretty drawings.

You may have looked as I was adding the closure regarding the Promenade closure.

I marked a couple of the locations an hour ago with Waze on phone; don’t know if that did it as it didn’t seem to be previously marked.

I’ve just looked on my phone and it seems just a part of the promenade road is marked closed, the section I marked with the app. But it doesn’t show the whole length to Tynemouth closed

Also, and this is a bit crazy, because the main street (Park View) is closed, the one way direction of some of the back streets has been changed. These provide an ‘escape’ route. I’ll see if I can change them, those I know about.

I cant edit these.
Park View closed about 10 yards north of Roxburgh Terrace

My own app wasn’t showing any congestion highlights, closures candy bars, etc, but now it appears to be showing them.

You can always check on the LiveMap, which was showing the closure candy bars, including those on Park View.

As for the rear alley ways, I was aware that all have been reversed based on the published plans, but i was not rushing to make this change as Waze will not us these roadsforthrough routing as they are set to Parking Lot Road type.

now holly to beach via alleys

There are cars turning into Park View (the main shopping street) and these back lanes provide a way out, but only by way of the changes.
I’ve just seen your “published plans” map. I couldnt find it earlier.

Just to confirm these are not my plans but those published on North Tyneside Council’s website.

I have made the changes to the rear alleyways, it will take a couple of days for these changes to reach the app, hence why I was in no rush.

I’m unsure what the Google Maps link is for :?

I could see they are N Tyneside plans.

The street view is only to show that the closed road is an important through road. Its going to cause some havoc if the weather ever improves.

Park View , Whitley Bay is now open to traffic, except on Saturdays when it is closed.

This was adjusted on 30 July and noted in the Map Comment covering this road.
