Why edit the road in that area to make such a change if you haven’t driven there to see how it works? I’ve been in Rotorua fairly recently and while i’ll need to take a closer look at those roads mentioned I do recall that the double carriage ways I saw worked well.
Very frustrating! There’s a huge amount of work all over the country tidying up unfinished and/or incorrect edits.
I recently added new roads in Panmure, Auckland and someone deleted them putting the map back to match the satellite image which is now out of date!
I’ve fixed it and locked the roads this time, to be updated again as the new roads develop.
I agree, there’s not many problems like that one.
Don’t forget to add end nodes on no exit streets. I’ve just been looking at the map and there’s a huge number of them in Rotorua that need to be done now.
The problem with you level 3 editors locking roads is that then even us level 2 editors, which do have experience, can’t edit the roads (or fix your mistakes!).
There are very few level 3 editors in New Zealand, and it is unrealistic to think that the few of you around will maintain all the roads. This is supposed to be a community effort, if someone is causing problems, talk to them, teach them or worst case, complain to Waze about them. Blocking everyone else from editing an area, just because of one bad user, takes away one of the top ‘selling points’ of Waze.
Also, please don’t lock roads in areas that you don’t know, and don’t actively drive in. I actively manage the Hamilton area, I drive in it every day, but it is difficult for me when out of town level 3 editors come in, make (sometimes incorrect) changes, and then lock the road behind them.
Not sure who you’re referring to in this post as there are a couple of people in the conversation. As you said above, if there is a problem, just talk to the person concerned. If there’s anything I’ve done in this way, please let me know. I’m more than happy if you want to send a PM to establish contact and sort out the problem.
I have locked very few roads on purpose and none that I recall in Hamilton. Most of the time, I am removing locks that other editors have put in place in the past - sometimes I may not have noticed the lock and it gets left after I’ve made an edit.
I make every effort to not leave mistakes in any road, and know that it’s very frustrating when you can’t fix something that is incorrect. Let me know what I can do to help, and if there are any roads that you need unlocked.
I agree, I shared the same frustration in earlier days. One place I have Locked recently is where new roads I mapped got deleted by someone putting everything back to match the satellite image. Next time I’ll make contact with the editor responsible as well and perhaps the lock in that case may not be necessary. What’s really frustrating now is that the most recent tile update now has incorrect roads in that area as development continues!
Hi guys, sorry I wasn’t picking on any one in particular, it was just a general rant
It must be roads that were locked by previous editors, but then once the level 3 editors make a change, the lock then elevates to the higher level, locking me out.
ispyisail sorry I keep hassling you to unlock road segments for me, I’ve got a few more but I’ll try and find someone else to pick on
