You don’t want to become Area Manager yourself?

Note that there can be more than one Area Manager covering the same area.

I am already an area manager 4 areas at what point do stop adding areas… ?

You can request more than one area. I don’t know how many I had before I got permission for the whole country. As I travel frequently all over my country I requested several areas where I had good knowledge of the roads.

I know that depending of the area it can be cumbersome to find a person. Do you know if there’s an Country Manager for New Zealand, i.e. a user with permission all over the country?

Probably these locks were set in the old editor where locking was quite usual.

It’s even more nasty if those users are no longer active. You may want to check the weekly stats for your country to see if they are still active.

Just by observation it appears that if you delete your “waze user” you get removed from the score board and everybody moves up?

But your roads remain locked?

The roads are not locked to you. Anyone with an equal or higher rank can unlock it. Plus anyone who is an AM in that area irrespective of rank.

Roads were historically locked to prevent the server overriding directionality and geometry and had nothing to do with preventing other users editing. Sadly rather than using a different field when they introduced editor hierarchy they butchered the old field! Hence we get problems like this!

For the record, I am an area manager for the whole of New Zealand and check this forum quite often, so let me know if you need any help with these sorts of things.

BTW ispyisail how do you get so many points each week? You a truck driver or some other professional driver?

I asked to become an area manager for NZ also but they told me I needed 200k road edit points. I’m only up to 30k (100k total points)

I drive to work (10 minutes) and sit at desk for 40 hours a week :slight_smile:

I creating new roads after work, its just like joining the dots :slight_smile:

Oh I thought you must be getting all the points driving, man that is a lot of mapping! Your boss must love you :stuck_out_tongue:

I have wasted many hours mapping myself, it is strangely addictive. I have not been doing as much since the map updates starting taking a month or more, back when it was every few days I found it more rewarding.

Its great how much mapping you have done, especially the small towns that were previously non existent.
