Roundabout Help!

I am posting here to ask for help with roundabouts and their creation. I have tried to find help on Wiki and also the forums but have not found anything in relation to this that works. If I have missed something I also apologise for this post.

Here is the permalink to the roundabout i am having problems with :

When I try to connect the A road to the roundabout it will not save and gives an error to this effect.

Any ideas ?

I’m on my phone so cant check but I’m guessing it’s the transient problem that seems to happen with some roundabouts. If so it clears after a day or so

Turn on the Editable Areas layer in the editor. If you do not yet have permissions in this area you will not be able to add junctions/roundabouts. Note there is currently a delay with the processing of permissions whilst waze catch up with the influx of new users!

Please also check the UK wiki for naming conventions!!

I can confirm that I have permissions in this area. I also deleted the junction in order to replace it with a roundabout. I think Mr Knight’s suggestion might be correct but I could be wrong ?

DK could be right, I’m unable to save either! Real pain when this happens, leave yourself a bookmark and/or Update Request and come back tomorrow!

Meanwhile, check those road names! :wink: (Road -> Rd)

Outside my area and I can’t get to old Cartouche to play about with it. But from what you describe I think I was right after all. These problems used to take 48 hours or so to clear but I’ve had some clear in 4-6 hours lately.

Sorry about longer road names - I think you inherited my original bad practice! I’m changing them to shorter ones as I go around.

Hi,

This may sound silly or obvious, but I have noticed errors on roundabouts where some of the “V” junctions have one correct one way section but the other is a two way.

I have also spotted an issue where two roads join at the same junction of the roundabout. Roundabout is otherwise perfect bar this one anomaly.

Yep, both common reasons for roundabout errors.

I’ve noticed also that where you have a roundabout with a “V” entry and you ignore the route planned (i.e. when I don’t want to go on the M6 Toll) it immediately tries to reroute you by doing a U turn where the roundabout entry exit roads for that road meet, even if there is a turn restriction.

Does it do this in non iPhone clients?

Can someone confirm that we should leave both city name and road name blank for roundabouts. I always have (well, nearly always have) but I notice some people put in city name.

No reason not to put city name but street name should definitely be left blank!
