Is there a way to disable the RR crossing notification? I work in a town with numerous RR xings (Vincennes) and it gets quite annoying.

Yes,
In Settings, go to Alerts and Reports → Reports → Railroad crossing and turn off alert while driving and show on map as to your preference.
