School Streets

Council’s are introducing “School Streets” which turn roads adjacent to schools into “no motor vehicles” zones during times of schools starting and finishing (typically 8:00 – 9:00am and 2:45 – 3:45pm Monday to Friday).

An example of this is Staveley Road adjacent to Chiswick School as part of the “South Chiswick Liveable Neighbourhood” scheme (https://www.hounslow.gov.uk/info/20053/transport/2181/south_chiswick_liveable_neighbourhood/8).

This seems to be increasingly common (at least in London boroughs).

Is it possible to include these zones at the specified times in the Ways database to avoid routing through them and potentially incurring penalty charges? I appreciate this may be technically difficult with the specified timings but perhaps notifications could be introduced (similar to the “tolls apply” notifications)?

Thanks.

Hi, we have added many school streets and low-traffic neighbourhoods to the Waze map, including the one you have linked to. However, many of these schemes were temporary and have since been removed by the council.

Do you know if Staveley Road still has restrictions on it?

Sutton School Streets launches on 1-Nov-2021 and includes ANPR cameras. Would it be possible to update WAZE to include the streets in the scheme? I’ve attached the times and boundaries as provided by Sutton Council. Thanks in advance (I’m new to this, so I hope I’ve provided all necessary info).(unavailable attachment: School_Streets___Times__Boundaries_and_Exempt_Areas__1_.pdf)

Thanks for this information. The school streets were already mapped, but we’ve updated them to match the new times that were published.

Cheers.
