[Script] WME Chat addon

Should editors be able to use Chat addon to use PLs that select a place(point or area), camera, or UR?

Everything works fine for segment or node objects.

@voludu2: added to my todo list

V1.2:
CM will be prompted to add themselves to a server. If they do so, they will appear in red for users that are editing in their country.

I also removed the chat reload report. Thanks to every one who send me reports. Unfortunatly, I don’t manage to fix the bug that isolate some users for hours or days  . I am afraid it could be on waze server side…

Thanks again to bellhouse for german translation.

1.2.1? Whats new

small bug fix: all CM features were down

Hi, I am CM in two countries, but the current script does not offer me to register anywhere. I am using the current Chrome for Windows 64-bit and the current Tampermonkey. Is there any link to register manually?

Regards,

Detlev

top_gun_de and jarkaz,
you are both in the CM list.
Chat-addon should have asked you to add yourself, and the process adds all countries you manage in one shot. If it is not the case, maybe you saw the message, though it was an update message, and hit OK without reading it (I do so :))
Also, your name is red only for users that are editing in your country, even if they are logged in the same room as you.

For me working properly. My thanks would be for you a description of the ā€œWhat’s Newā€. [emoji6]

Idea: watched editor registry/notification field

Since Chat Addon already watches who joins and leaves chat, we could use this to notify when a particular editor who needs to be contacted comes on to the map. This could be a new red-roader who isn’t aware of / not answering PMs, an editor who needs some other guidance, someone we’re waiting to collaborate with, or…?

The simplest version would be a field in our individual settings, where we could enter the username(s) and get a unique notification sound when a watched editor comes in.

A more elaborate, and possibly more useful version (perhaps limited to AM or SM and up ?) would be a central registry, where we could list the watched user’s name, a brief description of why they need to be contacted, and the submitter’s ID, so that if we don’t happen to be online at that time, someone else can attempt to help out, if only to say ā€œRead your PMsā€, or ā€œPlease contact so-and-soā€.

Thoughts?

Excellent idea and it could color their name in the chat window. A central database would be awesome, but I understand the logistic hurdles.

Edited to remove ā€œredā€ since that color is already used for CMs’ but red would make the most sense. Maybe CMs could be blue or green?

I saw the message and decided not to activate it at that moment. Now, the option in the settings doesn’t work, so same problem…

hi,

a custom list of usernames with new song has been already asked (a long time ago, sorry). I’ll add it. This list will be local, not shared with other editors.
But I’m against recording usernames of people without their agreement.

+1

Thank you

I do understand privacy concerns, but I just want to make sure you understand clearly what I was asking…

I don’t want for Chat Add-on to keep a record of everyone who has logged in: I would like to keep a common custom list, somewhere ā€œprivateā€, where Managers/Champs could enter names to be watched for. When they entered the Chat, a bell/song would sound and the name highlighted (for Managers/Champs only?) That’s all. (Maybe the name could even be automatically removed from the managers’ list, once ā€œactivatedā€).

Any manager/champ online at that time could then reference a restricted access Sheet somewhere to learn what the issue is with the given editor, and take appropriate action. No recording of names by Add-on itself, no record of the fact that they entered Chat, once they left (except for what might remain in the chat window, of course). If that is still something you would consider a breach of privacy, then I will ask no more.

That said, it does seem to me that by agreeing to make yourself Visible in Chat, you’re accepting a certain ā€œrelease of privacyā€, but that’s a gray area, and I won’t push it.

Thanks again.

While the triggered signal for entering seems innocent to me, the sheet with user-data would be a provacy-violation in many european countries, and I believe that you would waste a lot of time to create a permission-system that offers data only to privileged people of the relevant countries…

Thank you for that information! I’m a little bit in awe of the fact that a temporary collection of usernames, kept privately, for private use, would constitute a privacy violation. These aren’t even people’s actual names nor email addresses (in most cases). Guess I have a lot to learn about European Privacy laws. :o Does this mean that an individual user’s Friends and Foes PM list constitutes a privacy violation, as well? I’m interested to understand.

At any rate, restricting access to a Google Sheet is relatively straightforward, in case anyone happens to know the US rules regarding usernames and privacy, and we could still use something similar here.

I think a first step that should be ok and feasible could be if every user can maintain a list of usernames on his computer. If any user in that list enters the chat, then a special sound and/or visual signal comes up. Something like the ā€œAlert matchā€ field, only that it also needs to monitor the join and leave messages.

The sort by activity level is great, but it seems to over sort people sometimes when enabled with sort by rank. i.e. instead of green yellow and red, I end up with 4 or 5 levels of sort that shuffle a bit more than I would like. Could there be a more simple ā€œavailable or asleepā€ sort option?

Hi,

activity sort is divided into 5 groups:

  • less than 60 sec
  • less than 120 sec
  • less than 300 sec
  • less than 600 sec
  • more than 600 sec (Zzz)
Those groups are separated by a horizontal line.
Inside each group, the secondary sort is used (rank in your case)
The color is a gradient, and represents the activity in real time.
If I sort by activity without groups, the list is always moving, and it is not comfortable.
Do you mean that 5 groups is too much?

Yes, I find it hard to find people I am looking for with that many groups. I thought there were only 3 states (red, yellow and green), which is probably part of my confusion. Ideally, I would like to have users sorted into either, away or asleep, then sorted by user rank. An added bonus would be still having the colored bells/chips next to the users name. That said, none of these are deal breakers for me since Chat addon is awesome and I can’t even use chat without it.

I second that request. For me, these 5 groups are also too much. Maybe you could add in an option like ā€œSort present users into time categoriesā€ (or so). So if this option is enabled, the sorting is as before, and if it is disabled, it soll only sort into zzz and not-zzz. But then again, the options screen is already quite long… :?
