The script searches for permalinks within a (configurable) list of forums.
A new layer and tab were added to the WME for basic configuration and turning on and off this layer. The layer shows forum icons wherever permalinks reference. Hovering the icon opens a tooltip with the forum topic title, date and a link back to the forum.
This script may be useful for area manager - if a forum thread reference something in your area, it will popup in the WME.
WARNING:
As this script access the selected forum(s) and Mark Topics read for you. I guess this could be fixed if someone knows how to promote this request.
So we were discussing this script in the NY GHO and it’s hard for some to use it because of the fact that it marks your forum as read.
On of our senior editors posted the following…
“Seems to me they could solve the forum issue by just getting the forum thread IDs from your “view my posts” and subscriptions pages without opening them, then open them from a separate session without logging onto the forum (won’t be able to read restricted threads though as a caveat).”
I don’t know if you would be willing to take his advice, but I always do. Maybe this could be an option. It seems he has a great feel for these things.
