[Script] WME Rapid House Numbers

Rapid House Numbers is another script for adding a sequence of house numbers.

Greasyfork: https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/35931-wme-rapid-house-numbers

To use the script, click on ‘Edit house numbers’ as usual. Two new fields will appear to the right of the ‘Add house numbers’ button. If you add a non-zero number to each field, the ‘Add house numbers’ text will change color to indicate that the script is active.

While the script is active, the ‘a’ key becomes an accelerator for the ‘Add house numbers’ button. As a result, you don’t need to keep moving the pointer back and forth between the road being edited and the button. When you click on the map to place the new house number, the HN will be initialized with the number shown in the ‘Next #’ field. The ‘Next #’ field will then be incremented to the next number in the sequence.

The script has, at this point, only been tested in Chrome.

I love this script! Thanks for sharing it!

Very nice and intuitive implementation with simplified accelerator to reduce miskeying. Thanks!

Very nice! I’ve always just used the keyboard shortcut “h”. H to initiate house number mode, then h to insert a new house number.

Awesome

Interesting! if I could suggest a small feature would be the ability to use one shortcut for one increment, and other different shortcut for another increment. Something like “a” for 1, and “b” for 97. This way I could enter in one segments all four corners at once, hitting a-a-b-a (ie 1, 2, 99, 100), then the next segment would be again a-a-b-a (101, 102, 199, 200) and so on.
Does it make sense, right?

It would be nice to have the ability to press ‘S’ for example, and skip the next increment. I’ve been working a lot of neighborhoods where it increments by 10s but one or two lots skip an increment completely. So, I’m adding the non-existent HN just to keep the fast sequence going and then going back and deleting that non-existent HN.

If there was a shortcut key to omit/skip the next increment or pressing it multiple times would skip the increment X however many times you press the skip key…also great. You could show the next HN it would put down up next to the Increment box potentially.

Is there a way not to have this script reassign the “A” key? I use that key for manually hiding the turn arrows, yet every time I go back into house number mode, it seems to reassign the “A” key to “Add HNs”.

Ewwwww - yes, no script should overwrite an existing shortcut key (especially native functionality). Should be editable from the keyboard shortcuts screen as well.

I completely agree. I’m working on a fix. Thanks dspille.

v1.4 appears to have fixed the issue for me. Thank you!

I’d personally prefer to use the + key on the numpad to add a house number. That way I can keep one hand over the numpad while the other controls the mouse movement.

I’ve been looking into writing a script like this myself, so thank you for saving me that time

Version 1.5 has been released. The ‘a’ accelerator has been removed since we don’t need both ‘a’ and ‘h’ to add a house number.
The keys ‘1’ through ‘9’ have been added as accelerators in the HN mini-editor. Press one of them to drop the next HN onto the map and then increment next by the value of the key pressed.

This is very nice! Thank you! I am noticing, however, that some of the numeral accelerator keys are reacting strange. For instance, the ‘1’ key, which is used by Toolbox to remove geonodes, tries to remove the nodes while in HN mode. The ‘4’ and ‘5’ keys, which are used by WME Magic as quick zoom to those levels, are zooming the map instead of incrementing the HN by those values. This may need a similar fix to what you did for the ‘a’ accelerator in previous versions. The issue also appears to be intermittent.

I am noticing after the update (1.5) that it does not accelerate the house number after typing in a starting point. I will enter a HN an increment, lay the 1st HN, lay the 2nd HN and it is the same value, undo and lay another HN which increments from that point on. But each time I manually enter a start point I have to undo the 2nd one to get in to forward on the increment.

I’m also noticing this bug.

Second that. I also noticed it does it sometimes after moving the map around. Just had it to 100, 100, 104, 108 move map 108, 112.

a minor nit. When the increment/decrement is greater than +/- 9, the box isn’t large enough to see the value. so when I select -10 for example, all I see is -1

thanks

Release 1.7 has been released. The accelerators now override the accelerators installed by other scripts. At the same time, all of the house number accelerators are now removed when exiting the house number editor.

I would just love to have the “H” brought back. It worked every time. I cant get the numbers to work.
