Hi guys, I found we have problem if searching in Chinese, we have to key in the entire place or street name in search bar in order to get the result but if we typed only part of the name in Chinese we get nothing. no problem for English.
I believe this is very irritating to Chinese users. any solution?
I tested 深圳体育館 and just tpyed 深圳体育 Waze wtill can finf it. Could u give me an example and permalink please?

you could try 长隆 in Panyu see whether can get 长隆野生动物世界.
I typed 长隆 and waze cannot recognise it but when i typed 长隆野 and waze autometically came up 长隆野生动物世界 and 长隆野生动物世界停车场. Oh, to clarfy, are you talking about the search in client or in WME?
in both, client and WME.
I typed 长隆野 in livemap and get 长隆野生动物园, but it is not the one I added and edited.
Have you used VPN?
yes, we had to use vpn in order to see satellite image .
I did discuss this with Waze and they think VPN may be the cause.
should not be, i used client also cannot get the good result if searched in chinese character, without vpn

yes, unless i put a lot of alternat name for each road and place.
such as 体育西路 i have to put 体育 体育西 体育路 as alternate names, otherwise i got nothing if i only searched 体育西
It seems more like a Waze’s search engine issue, than a VPN issue. We tested in Malaysia (no vpn needed). The auto complete results received from the search bar are actually from Google Map, which normally with inaccurate position. In order to get Waze result, we are advised include more alternative name for Chinese named places.
i think it is because waze cannot recognise chinese word character by character, it would consider 体育西路 as a full name and could not be searched separately.
I talked with Waze’s staff and they admitted there are some issue to search in Chinese. I’ll try to find out who is in the search department and directly talk to them.
they should put this as high priority issue to settle, navigation app cannot search the road name is ridiculous.
I totally agree. Unfortunately it doesn’t happen to other languages. Anyway, I will keep an eye on it.
