Being a Champ is an honor, but above all, it is a responsibility. It means being willing to give something more: time, judgment, and service to the community. It is not about a title, but about a permanent commitment to the project and to the editors who make it possible.
If a Champ stops exercising that responsibility, the right thing to do is to step down and make room for someone who can take it on. This does not close any doors: the community can always reappoint someone as a Champ who was one before, when circumstances and commitment allow for it.
We are in touch with a staff member who will help us restructure Wazeopedia and other things.
We will take your suggestions into account, but I don’t think this one always applies, as some of us are not highly active in editing because we are leading projects that enable users without that role to edit without issues.
In your case, you are involved in other projects, but you do perform edits. Staying active in editing is important to understand how this affects the community, since most things end up being reflected in the WME.
This discussion was replaced by the Ladder Builder that was conducted with the Local Champs. Although we aren’t necessarily ruling out your suggestions, this discussion has already taken place and been sent to Waze.
On a personal note, I can tell you that the Mexico Champs group is functioning with a level of cohesion, empathy, and dynamism like I’ve never seen before. More united than ever, with a shared vision, and without egos or autocracy. I don’t know what you’re basing your judgments on, but I can tell you we’re doing better than ever.
This week I had to send an email to Mauro because there were 48 pending items, and several could be resolved by the champs (including you).
I actually base my claims on data and not just empty words.
I don’t share your point of view; I think the problem lies in the methods and communication channels you use, because I wasn’t aware of any of those 48 pending issues—otherwise, I would have been happy to help you. Your approach might not be the right one.
Well, that means you either don’t read the forum or aren’t subscribed to the right channels, because all topics are public. Therefore, I suggest you contact the coordinators instead, as there are many pending tasks you could take on.
Regards,
