have had this happen several times now. When sending a PM or replying to one, the message just stays in the Outbox and does not appear in Sent Items… what gives?
That means the message has not been read by the recipient.
oh well… thanks… does not make much sense… but hadn’t noticed that before…
You can give your feedback to the phpBB developers. I have no idea what the latest version of phpBB looks like or acts like. It could be a more recent version is more clear about the boxes.

Remember, PMs aren’t e-mail. This is typical behavior of a BBS (Bulletin Board System for the young’uns). On the old BBS systems that we used before the internet was commonplace, if you were sending e-mail to another local user of the BBS system, your e-mail would remain in the outbox until it was read.
Think of it like this: Sending an e-mail is like using the postal service. When you send a letter by the postal service, you hand the letter to the mail carrier and it’s gone. You don’t ever really know if the recipient got it unless you request a return receipt.
On a Bulletin Board, it’s like sending a note to someone else who lives in an apartment building. You go down to the lobby and ask the front desk clerk to put the letter into that person’s mailbox…picture a grid of cubbyholes with numbers. If you haven’t heard back from that person in a few days, you look in the box and see if it’s still there. Then you know whether that person has picked up his mail or not.
yeah, thanks for clarifying… I’ve used other forums (I believe even phpBB) and when sending it would go to the Sent Items, without staying in the Outbox until it was read… I just hadn’t seen this before here when sending PM’s… but anyway, now that know…
I was referring to the number of active editors and users registered with a throw-away email address that they do not regularly monitor.
By default they should get a PM notification, but if the email is never checked, they would be none the wiser about the PM.
Waze likely needs to be a bit more proactive in checking valid emails before allowing anyone to edit.
A test mail once a week or month that requires verifying via a clicked link should help.
No response = No more editing.
I know there are millions of editors, but no comms means that they cannot be held accountable to fix problems they create or that they would look at suggestions from other editors.
