St Neots - roundabout - voice guidance issue

Hi Guys,

Could someone take a look at this one please ?

https://world.waze.com/editor/?lon=-0.25644&lat=52.23912&zoom=8&layers=BFTFTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTFT

From what I can make out so far, if you approach from the west, the voice directions are correct ie “take the 1st exit, then the 2nd exit” but if you approach from the south or east the voice directions say “take the , then take the” without the exit numbers. The editing guidelines do mention this issue but being new, I cannot see anything wrong with the layout etc.

Thanks,

Mark

This is the ole ‘0th exit’ bug, which afflicts roundabouts from time to time. You can see it occur on this route in the LiveMap*, yet it’s fine in the opposite direction. (*Install the LiveMap Navigation script to see the instructions)

The usual fix is to delete the roundabouts and rebuild them.

Thanks Timbones, i’ll go away and play and maybe have a go a “rebuilding” my first roundabout (or two !).

It seems that the geometry is slightly ‘tweaked’ on the western one and the northern point of the eastern roundabout.

All updates and possibly the creation was done on the same day.
I was wondering if the directions getting lost could not perhaps relate to adding more entry points to a roundabout some time after its initial creation.
It would not seem to be the case here.

My first “rebuilds” are complete ! Would anyone like to check my work ?

So at what point do you mark the UR’s as solved ? Now ? or once the changes have gone live to ensure that they have actually been solved ? If the latter, is there any list or automated process that shows me my last edits ? or is it a pen and paper job ? I can imagine if you do plenty of these you’ll never remember all of them and I would like to check that the issue has been fixed.

Looks good from here!

Close the URs right away, as we don’t know when the next update will be, and we don’t want other editors attempting to fix it when you’ve already done it.

Thanks for that, this has been puzzling (and annoying) me on several roundabouts for some time.

Hi,

It was a recognised bug in Waze whereby a deleted roundabout would leave a junction node and thus, perhaps, still have an effect on any new roundabout created.

Just for clarification, mine included, and now that cartouche_old has gone, is there a correct way to delete a roundabout.
The only way as far as I know is to disconnect all the roads running to the roundabout and then select all roundabout segments and hit delete…

Des. . .
