Street view position jumps back after dropping in new location

Is this a…:
Standard bug
Steps to reproduce this issue:
I don’t have direct reproduction steps, but it seems to occur when the editor has been open for a long time/under heavy load. I understand it’s not ideal not to have direct reproduction steps, but it seems to happen pretty consistently when moving around in street view frequently.

  1. Street view pin dropped in one location
  2. Street view panel closed
  3. Continue editing for a while
  4. Drop street view pin in location
  5. Street view location will always jump back to the original location

Browser name and version:
Brave 1.80.120 (Official Build) (64-bit) Chromium: 138.0.7204.101
Are you using scripts? Please detail which ones.:
Video was taken with a lot of scripts running, but happens on my more lightweight editing environment too using the following scripts:

WME Toolbox
WME Fix UI Memorial edition
WME Color Highlights
WME ClickSaver
WME SpeedHelper
Edit Count Monitor

I have tried to reproduce without scripts but it seems to be related to the editor being slower/more bogged down than usual.

I’ve been seeing this behavior more in the last week as well. Particularly over the weekend I had to do many hard refreshes because street view kept going back to the previous location. After the previous “fix” for this issue I still experienced it occasionally and reported it in the WME release notes here and here and here.

This behavior has returned. Please prioritize this bug as it severely hinders the editor workflow.

Experiencing this heavily today, I presumed it was because of the new version, but as this page created weeks ago, it isn’t that.

Steps to reproduce this issue:
When opening SV, it returns to the previous point. Only with SV already open does it load at the new position. I recorded a video demonstrating this.

This also happens in production WME occasionally and there is an open bug on the production side.

Hi @LeoGregol I have merged your bug post into this existing one as it is a duplicate

@BeastlyHaz sure, no problem.

@ojlaw yeah, I had already seen it in the production WME, but it had stopped happening. Today I decided to switch to Beta, and the second time I opened SV, the bug already occurred.
I went back to the production WME, and the problem didn’t happen.

This problem keeps happening on WME in production.

I confess I feel like throwing away my computer when this happens. Especially when I lose the coordinates of the location I was editing and can’t find it anymore.

The only reliable workaround remains to “Reload map data” before dragging the GSV icon; forgetting this still causes the map to jump back to its previous location.

Despite numerous new WME releases, this persistent bug has yet to be addressed, and its continued presence in every update is increasingly frustrating.

Hi @AndyLaode,

I’m sorry for the inconvenience caused by this behavior. The issue is still being looked into.
In the meantime, it would be helpful if you could provide some additional details, such as particular edit types/how long you edit before the street view jumps back to its original location; layers or any other contributing factors.

Thank you and regards,
Olesya

It’s December now and this annoying bug still exists. The best way to avoid it is to reload the page after moving and before you try to open Streetview again. Just selecting a segment isn’t enough.

This should actually be fixed in the next WME release.
