Hi Waze team and fellow map editors,
I’d like to propose a new feature that could enhance transparency and community safety: the ability to report ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) presence in real time, similar to how we currently report police sightings.
Just like police alerts help drivers make informed decisions, ICE location reporting could serve a similar purpose, especially for users navigating areas where immigration enforcement may impact their route, safety, or peace of mind. This isn’t about politics, it’s about information access and personal agency.
Here’s what I envision:
• A new icon or tag for ICE presence (e.g., roadside stops, checkpoints, or known stakeouts)
• Optional context (e.g., “unmarked SUV,” “visible agents,” “temporary checkpoint”)
• Same time-limited visibility as police reports, with community confirmation
Waze has always empowered users to look out for one another. Adding ICE as a reportable category would extend that ethos to more vulnerable communities and help all users navigate with greater awareness and choice.
Thanks for considering this addition. I’d love to hear others’ thoughts or refinements.
