Suggestion for new subforum.. "New Estates"

Hi.

I was wondering if we could have a new subforum for new estates in the uk, similar to the roadworks subforum so that we can have a mini group discussion and concerted efforts on new estate as they appear?
I’m thinking that as a group of people work on the estates, we could have a master alert in the area as we do with the roadworks, pointing to the specific post in the estate sub forum, with links to the builders plans etc.

That way, local users and editors can interact very locally, possibly to the point of having a concerted day of walking the estate and mapping it out at a lan style party in the end? It may help build an online community and a community in the estate as well.
That way you could also have a very local area manager who physically drives the area locally.

Prime example is here in waterlooville

Where I have just spent an hour walking around paving new roads an raising issues to correct names.

Just a thought, I don’t live there, just nearby but there are about 7 editors in the area it appears, and with none of the aerial photos showing the area it might be best to avoid unintentional errors.

I usually go to the planning application for information on new estates. Although I appreciate that that may not always accurately reflect what’s on the ground (but presumably it should!?).

Thats what i’m thinking a “New Estates” subforum could be for - consolidation of data such as links to planning apps, development forms etc for each new estates. It’s possible with some ongoing estates that the post could be open a very long time, and i don’t necessarily think that finding and pulling up an thread in the main forum is the easiest/best thing to be doing when a new phase gets released.
I’m trying it with West of Waterlooville at the moment, which is due to go on to 2020, and i’d like to keep it going as each phase gets released/announced, with the intention of keeping all the old data around as well, even if the developer removes it.

Yes I see what you mean. Seems like a good idea. Also to co-ordinate action on who does what. I had to go round one estate and fix up a lot of stuff (although of course it was great that an editor had taken the time to enter it all in the first place and leave me the easy bits to do).
