Would temporary speed bumps (plastic things that will be removed before the snow flies) correctly be reported as an “object in road?” I’ve tried to report them as such. People see them and throw out the anchor. Some advanced warning would help. The app takes my report, but never updates the map. I’m wondering if someone disabled this for the location (Stetson Ave in Swampscott.)
As a side note, speed bumps that damage your car if you hit them at the speed limit seem a little ridiculous.
The object on road report is usually used to alert drivers to foreign objects on the roadway. If a report is made and accepted by the app, it can be rescinded by later drivers who may disagree with your report. No person at Waze or any of us volunteers active remove reports, nor can we. If no one confirms that it is still there, after a period of time, the report expires. It is not a permanent alert.
Also not all reports are accepted by Waze, but it depends upon your trust level, which is driven by a proprietary algorithm of theirs, which we, again, do not control.
While you are correct that speed bumps can damage cars, there are usually ample warning signs around them on the street so that the presence of them on app is not necessary for drivers to be safe. And there is no defined feature for speed bumps at this time in Waze.
